Re: Steve, please tell me its not so
Colin, it sounds all well and good, but if you look at the dollar amount we spend on any given thing vs. what we get for it, you'd see that it's a big waste.
The liberal cry slogan is "we need more money for schools". MN spends over $10,000 a year on each student in the state (K-12). Please tell me you see a $10,000 education coming out of the schools. No, you don't. Talk to your administrator about his salary and find out why he's gouging you. There is so much waste, no other competition who is going to do better (because the gov. has a monopoly on schools), and as long as the teachers salaries are going to the unions, and the unions are contributing to the democrats, than all you will ever hear is "schools need more money". What happens when we're still turning out the same retards and spending $40,000 a year per student? When they start doing school vouchers you'll have higher education at affordable prices. Save the taxpayers money and let them choose which school they want thier kids to go to. But, it won't happen because of Democrats, unions, and teachers. They'll take thier own interest before an alternative method of making kids smart. The roads........Take the ammendment right now that you see all the stupid "vote yes" signs for, and PLEASE read the written ammendment. Again, more money for roads *sounds nice*, but if you read the actual 3 BILLION dollar ammendment, you'll see that it is written that "no more than 40% shall be spent on roads, and no less than 60% spent on mass transit. In lawyers terms, none of it has to be spent on roads. And the first "mass transit" that they are planning is a light rail from St Paul to Minneapolis. I don't know about you, but not many people live in St Paul and commute to Minneapolis. If you worked in St Paul, how would you like to drive to the station in Minneapolis to ride the train to St Paul? ----, in that time you coulda just drove there. It's a bullshit amendment to build fancy little trains that don't help congestion. Cost per mile of road vs. mass transit, roads will SMOKE mass transit in cost and efficiency. Good thing the "transportation ammendment" isn't going towards real transportation.
