steering wheel HELP!!

I am installing a MoMo steering wheel in my 2000 civic ex and i was wondering if there is a way to trick the car to think the airbag is still in because the aftermarket one doesnt have one, please let me know,i want the passenger side to still work, thanks

doing that is illegal, FYI, if in Cali you can get a fine.

does the car not run if it thinks teh airbag has been delpoyed???? just slap teh steering wheel on and roll out :) unless of course it wont start or something without and airbag.. in that case youre fucked ?? ???

Re:steering wheel HELP!!

is the airbag plug a 2 wire deal? if it is, trim some insulation off the wires an inch or so back from the plug... plug in the factory steering wheel in and start the car. yes, this is dangerous. ;D use a voltage meter to measure the voltage between the two wires. Then, with that reading, maybe you could trick the airbag sensor or something :P

I just did my steering wheel last week, but I have a crx. I'm not sure how you would trick the thing, but definately be careful when doing anything with the airbag. ;)

Re:steering wheel HELP!!

Before installing the wheel remember to unplug battery for a while before unlugging the srs, just in case the bag is holding juice. What I did was put electrical tape over the srs light in the cluster to cover it up. It works ;D. I was never able to figure out how to keep the pass side airbag functional though.

Don't make life difficult, just remove the ------- light bulb for the SRS light.

the passenger side will work still, but who gives a ----, if you have a :o momo :o steering wheel your car is a racecar anyway right? do you even have a passenger seat? isn't that where your methanol tank should be? duh ::)

Re:steering wheel HELP!!

been there, done that. I have a 2000 ex with a momo wheel according to a friend a have at a honda dealership (mechanic) if your srs light is on because you took out the drivers side bag, your passenger side will not deploy. you CAN trick the system by unplugging the drivers side from the srs unit located behind the cup holder in the center console, turn the car on for 10sec. and shut back off then pull your neg. battery post and let sit form about 5 min and reconnecting. DO NOT START THE CAR just turn it on. this worked for mine, it shut the srs light off and reactivated my passenger side bag. 8)
