steam on 2 machines? w/ one key?

I play CS on my desktop currently, but I want to put it on my laptop also. is there a way I can put the same key on both machines? I don't intend on playing them at the same time, just one or the other, but I'd like to have the option for various reasons.

yea you can do it, I've got counterstrike running on both my computers and it loads up fine, i can even have both of them in the same server. ;)

Re:steam on 2 machines? w/ one key?

how? when I try to load CS on the second machine it asks for a key. when I put the key in it says already in use. what do I do?

Re:steam on 2 machines? w/ one key?

yeah really the only way i can play on both my comps is a network game?

I don't want to play both on one internet server at the same time. but it'd be nice to lan game on them or something. I don't know how to load CS on the machine while already having it registered on another machine

Re:steam on 2 machines? w/ one key?

You should be able to just install steam and open it in offline mode and choose network game in options

Everyone on here seems to play CS. I'm a CS king but haven't played in a long time. I have half life and a cd key (but i think it's in use), can I still play? Help me out out and i'll start playing again and show you who the man is with the mp5.

ok the last time i played CS was right when they released the first retail version.

HOLY POOP what a change since then, it's decent again w/ the Anti-cheat modules. (do they really work?)

Re:steam on 2 machines? w/ one key?

no they don't work. but if you get a chance, and want to regain your love for the game, play a respawn server, it is one of the coolest things that ever happened to that game.

no such thing as 1 key really... u need the log in name and thats it. open steam. log in with ur name and password. then it should update on its own cuz ur key is registered to the name not the computer its self. i can log off then back on with a diff name and it wont ask for another key cuz its registered to the name... i dunno what ur tryna do but it shouldn't be that hard if u playd cs for a lil while.
