Put it this way, if there was a need to persecute illegals it would of been done a long time ago; Illegals are a gift to corporate america. The only real reason immigration reform has been brought back up is because of terrorism and "homeland safety". It's been a negglected subject by politicians for years now and only extremist left and right nutcases are the only real people who have "touched" the subject in the past.
To sum it all up arguing over politics on the internet , and e-thugging is gay. Why don't you make more use of your time like the hispanics are doing and promote/join a counter-protest that matters. That is after all what this country was founded upon.
It's hard to beleive that people are arguing/fighting over things in which the country was founded upon. I guess "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" on the bottom of the statue of liberty was just a trendy saying in the past.
Hey stealth have you preppared for Iran 06?!

The difference between trailor trash/blacks and illegal immigrants is that the trailor trash and blacks are actually citizens. Yes, we spend lots of money on worthless Americans, but that doesn't mean we have to let everyone that rushes our borders have the same benefits. When we do, we encourage even more people to rush the border.

First, you put ILLEGALS in these " ". They aren't "illegals", they are illegals. Their first action here was breaking a federal law. Yes, we know why they do it. We would probably do it ourselves, but that doesn't take the fact away.
Persecuting illegals is something that has been happening for a while now. Only recently did the local news start covering it though. Persecuting illegals 12 years ago:
The public hates paying for illegals, but apparently we can't deny "civil rights" (in the forum of social services) to people who don't belong here in the first place. They break the law and rape your wallet, and you can't deny it to them. Persecution isn't new.
Your third paragraph wonders why we argue online about current events. Should we turn to Barbara Walters to give us her liberal opinion on everything, or would you like to have a conversation with someone who might actually know something about the subject? Alot of people are clueless to what happens in the world, and just possibly these kinds of threads wake some people up to what's happening in thier world.
And your last paragraph is trying to equate 12 million people jumping our borders and demanding rights to the boats who brought immigrants here LEGALLY. The statue of liberty was the first thing they saw when they got to America. It stood for something. Today it doesn't mean ----. What percentage of illegals have seen the statue of liberty, or know what it stands for, or care?

California Proposition 187 was a proposition introduced in California in 1994 to deny illegal immigrants social services, health care, and public education. A number of people and organizations were involved in bringing it to the voters. It was introduced by assemblyman Dick Mountjoy (Republican from Monrovia, California) as the Save Our State initiative. It passed with 59% of the vote, but was overturned by a federal court.

Immigrant Crusade Enlists Few Blacks
Najee Ali, an African American activist, tries to turn out for as many civil rights rallies as he can. But on the day that hundreds of thousands of Latinos marched through downtown Los Angeles for immigrant rights, he had no idea it was happening until he turned on the TV.
“They didn’t call us; they didn’t need to call us,” Ali said of organizers of the march last month during a recent dialogue between blacks and Latinos about immigration. “Once I saw the half million, I felt fear, in a sense, that [blacks] might be marginalized in the future when it comes to jobs and political empowerment. . .
