i know for sure the 88 crx dx starter and the 88 civic sadan starters are different.

call an autoparts store and ask them to check.

They are different.. But they all interchange... example, a 88hf starter may look different, but will still work on a 91 SI... They all use the L3 Tranny.

Probably different amperage on the motors. Either way, they have all worked for me ;)
