Stand up jet skis....

I just moved back down to college and I'm about 2 blocks away from the beach. Me and my room mate are thinking about picking up some stand up jet skis for the ocean....

I want to spend as little as possible... probably 5-800.

Any comments on old stand up jet skis? what breaks? good brands and crap brands?

I personally think they're easy as hell to work on, all 2 strokes are.

The jet ski's you stand up on are all pretty old for the most part, you can prolly pick em up for a coupple hundred bucks. They need to be worked on almolst as much as you ride them. Jet ski's are a PITA to work on you donthave much room, but they are a BLAST!

Huh? They still make stand-up jet skis. :l

Look for an old Yamaha Super jet. They can be bought fairly cheap and are fast and have potential to be faster. Kawasaki 650sx can be bought for dirt and they are pretty quick. I love stand-up jet skis. So much more fun than a sit down since you actually have to balance yourself and you can do more stuff other than just push the throttle and go. :1

well they are, they just require lil more maintenance than a regular 4 stroke...especially if they have never worked on 1 b4...

Super Jets ------- blow.

Go find an '80's Kawasaki 550. We've been raping those for the past few years. One of my buddies has a '95 Kawa 650 with every aftermarket piece available and I'd have to say it was the fastest thing I have ridden on water.

Any problems you encounter can be solved on the pwc forums.

bluerex 08-23-2007 07:18 PM

::)

You ever ridden a stand up?

Stock ones aren't speed machines but still a lot of fun. Throw a pipe/water box, stainless prop and re jet and you'll have a whole different animal.

550s are the d15s of stand up jet skis

Re: Stand up jet skis....

my buddy had a stand up a few years back. picked it up for like 250 bucks, there hard to ride.. now he has like a 12-1300 one of those.. site down though, rode it 2 weeks ago.. fucker is no joke, super super fast.. they only do like 60, but you dont wanna be going any faster than that on one.
hittin wakes at 55 can get scary.

Do they even make them 1000cc? I've never seen one that big. 750cc is fast enough for most people who aren't too fat to be on it in the first place. :P

You would take a Kawasaki 550 over a super jet? :-\ That's like wanting a D15 over an LS/Vtec. :1

You wanna scare yourself.....
Get on that skidoo xp or rxp turbo nonsense. I almost pissed myself and i was no where near full throttle. 60mph on water is a lot different than in a car.

Yeah, lots of those around here. I think they are more than 210hp though. ------- insane to be doing 60mph on a PWC. :S I've never been on one, but I could imagine it would be crazy. :6

Re: Stand up jet skis....

I just picked up a Kawi 550........

Westcoast Performance Cylinder Head, Westcoast full exhaust from manifold to water box, Westcoast 7 gallon gas tank, Mikuni Carb, K&N air cleaner, Ocean Pro ride plate, bilge pump, and a Jet Works professional stand.

$700. no complaints except the hard core 80's paint scheme.
