SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
Just got the word from the rebuilder:
Note: Joseph, Least I can say, this was not an easy rebuild. Shaft was bent, balancing way out of wack and the damn thing didn't want to get back together without some sanding of the shaft that was out of tolerance and still would not slide-in like a decent garrett turbo. Thrust plate is not bolted down or held by anything and oiling paths are very poor. THis is definitely NOT a performance turbo. I'm sure it will work fine now but god only knows for how long?? reusing it is asking for trouble in the long run IMO. |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
Awesome.
|
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
So how was this before the rebuild? Couldn't they say the same thing if I brought in some toasted out snail?
|
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
1000-1500 miles or so on it, light shaft play with no thrust play, passed significant quantities of oil. Bearings were also coked up a bit.
I trust the guy. It's not like he's charging me a lot of money for the reman or trying to offer to sell me "something better" in a bait & switch maneuver. |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
hahaha just when you think they changed their ways.

Hey Pete, you still have that GM8?
|
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
FYI, the center sections of the XS Power turbo's are KKK K26/K27's, but then again, your turbo guy should have known this when he used a correct rebuild kit on it
so i guess KKK's are junk then too :S |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
How can the center section be KKK turbos, when Garrett turbine housings fit onto them?
::) It's one-off chinese copycat swill. |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
because the housings are not garrett, they are a copy of a garrett that has been matched to fit on the K26/27 center section.
look at a rebuild kit spec sheet/assembly sheet for a K26/K27 and look at one for a T3 or T4. you will see that the compressor backing plates are attached to the center sections int a totally different way, and you will then notice that the XS Power turbo uses the K26/K27 centers and backing plate. the SPECS of the wheel and housing are equivilent to the garrett |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
so when it comes down to it, SSAC turbos are ----

Look at how many people ask about these turbos looking for any justification to buy them. SSAC will never change becuase dumbass people are still willing to fork over the money to "take the risk" ::) Never underestimate the predictibility of stupidity. SSAC is making a ton of money becuase of it. |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
duh, they are disposeable turbos :1

Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
ya i cant believe there still getting away with selling crap. think of it this way your going to go buy a new car theres your average honda for sale. then theres another car that looks the same and has everything the other car has. a/c, pw, pd, same hp rating, but its four times cheaper. how many people that know nothing about cars are going to go for the cheaper one saying how could they screw up making a car i mean its simple just a chassis and a engine right? well thats what all the retards think about ssac i mean what can they screw up on a turbo kit? its just a bunch of metal parts that basically run some air threw them. come on how hard is that. all those other companies are just rip offs. but ssac proves that you need more then some chink factory making turbo's. in all reallity i bet ssac is racking in the money because they sell a "lifetime garented" turbo kit. from what i hear no one ever gets there refund and customer service is like a imaginary friend its not there. there selling crap for cheap. because crap is cheap. do you think there just giving you a great deal because they feel like it? no there making profit off this. that means that there stuff is extremely cheap to make and parts they use are cheap. they try to mimic other companies so it looks like quality goods. i think ssac would be good for the kid trying to learn how to put a turbo kit on a car. you buy your 15 year old brother or cousin one for christmas and tell them to practice on the broken down car outside. i think ssac is giving false hope for the noob out there that wants to turbo his car for cheap.

They might have had a run of turbos made the way you describe, but not this one. Like I said, chinese copycat swill. They probably figured how to save $0.04 per $9.73 unit by changing to Garrett design... actually, I think this is an original Super T70, it might have been the other way around. |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
the hot side may bolt on, however, the cold side will not.
check out how the compressor backing plate attaches to the center section, then look at a pic of a T3 and how that compressor backing plate attaches.... the t3 bolts from back side of the plate through the center housing, the k26/k27's bolt from inside the compressor housing into the center section. for example... t3, look at the silverish bolt on the compressor side of the center section, thats what hold the backing plate on https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...patz6/pat3.JPG now i have 3 ssac turbo's sitting right here, and all of them do not have that. the backing plate bolts from inside the compressor housing like this... |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
I wonder how well CCA's new type R turbos are doing? :1

Does it come with blown seals or do I have to pay extra for that? :l __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
the shaft is probably bent because the poor chinese dude probably puts it in with a hammer :P
|
Re: SSAC "Super T70" fresh reman hotness!!!
I don't have the SSAC/ZHY unit in front of me, but I will check when it gets here. I think it has the Garrett style backing plate but can not remember fer sure, dude. I'm fairly certain they either have a couple diff designs (T70s look nothing like their T3/T04) or they changed designs at some point.
