Funny you say all that, because for some period of time american car manufactuers were building their cars to break down within a period of time, that way when it breaks down 3-5 years down the road, you'd rather buy a new car than get it fixed. How shady is that. I know for sure ford did it and I'm sure the other american manufactuers did too. I don't think they do it anymore because they have to say in competition with the jap and their everlasting cars.

BIGGMIKE NEEDS TO SIT DOWN!!!

My Turbo Coupe On 20PSI lasted 323,000miles on stock internals.
Don't give any ---- about lasting.
What performance based car really lasts a long time.
My tbird withstanding is american and not a performance car it just has a lot of potential.

Not to knock Honda too much but they last because in a way they aren't built to haul ***. Its an economy car 1st and a smooth performer 2nd. That neon is boosted and the main goal for Chrysler was speed. Durability is 2nd.

I give the Car a thumbs up for being a Step in the right direction for their factory tuning. It might not be the fastest or best handling but look @ your honda.

I have never had a respect for a DSM product because I hear nothing but broken parts stories. The DSM program has been around for nearly 20years and they still can't get it right. The evo has nothing but cheapo eclipse reject parts on it. I say they've failed to keep up in any way with the new "tuner cars".

The subaru cars are quite astounding in my opinion.
I've got some friends that have accomplished some pretty awesome things with pretty stock SUbee's. The trannies break because that's racing. Live with it.

I'm off my soap box, the mic is passed.

Once again it is starting to turn into a "Import V.S Domestics" argument.

I have a turbo honda. I put 9 bottles of nitrous through my 155K mile D15B2. I know hondas a great, but that doesn't mean a 04' dodge built for boost isn't going to last 150K miles on boost.

No doubt the american cars are still getting there *** kicked in the interoir department ( chevy sucks inside ), but the playing feild is getting pretty close when you start matching up drive train reliability ( even more so when you concider how much of benz is leaking on to dodge ).

Ok, you gotta 155K mile civic ( like mine was ), and it runs great, but what has it delt with for 155K miles ? 90hp ?? a tight *** trying save gas ? Show me a mass produced honda that has 200K miles of boost on it... ( BTW that's kinda impossible ).

---- is going to break, on the neon we know its not going to be the rods/crank/pistons/tranny, but we do know that D-series rods give up around 220whp... Not to meantion the trannies living a short life after going to boost( most the time... Mine is a DX and still kicking ).

$10K-$15K = kia/hyundi ( what ever ) with 100k mile warrenty and never sell it.
$15K-$19K = Scion TC ( toyota camery basiclly )
$20K-$25 = SRT-4
$25K-$30K = WRX
$30k-$35K = 2 door G35
$35k-$40K = Cobra

I don't dislike anything that is "american" or anything that is "jap" or anything that is "german". I dislike shitty cars, and the Neon SRT4 is a kick *** car at a kick *** price. Not better than a STi, not better than a G35, not better than a cobra, but it IS better than anything else you can buy for $21K or less ( unless your just all into looks and more luxury, then I'd say Golf GTi 1.8T ).

A friend of mine has a 2003 and all he did was put a spring on the wastegate to hold slightly higher boost and got stage 1 for $350.00 with drag radials he ran a 12.7 removed spare and has a 3" glasspack with a turn down. there are quite a few people close with less than $1000 in mods. Here is the link. of course he weighs 130 lbs but still...

I think that how long a car lasts depends on how well you take care of it, and the manner in which you drive it...In my opinion the SRT, EVO, and the WRX are all GREAT cars...I just can't see payin' $20+g's and the insane insurance premiums on one of those cars, especially when ALL of us here know you can build an equally impressive performer for $5 to $10 thousand dollars....just my .02
