Spun Bearing

Today...A friend told me he spun a bearing? He asked me what to do?? What are you supposed to do when you spina bearing. Can you just slap new ones in with no problems :).Or is it more involved. Thanks.

Depends. I know some guys who've just slapped in a new set of bearings. But most of the time it'll require some re surfacing.

95% of the time when you spin a bearing the bottom end is done. If the crank has any marks on it theres nothing you can really do. If it was like a smallblock chevy or something you could take the crank out and turn it down and use oversize bearings. Honda cranks have a nitrade coating on them and its not recommend to turn them.

yeah, more than likely the crank is fucked, but people are always parting blocks out and you can pick up a crank for 50 bucks or less, then yes, you just replace the bearings and be on your way.

i know about this subject dont i guys?
you can replace them for a temp fix...it all depends on how much damage is done to the crank
ive seen little damage done amd major damage too
if you can barely feel but not see any scaring, lightly sand it and get some acl bearings (one size fits all) but this is not stock specs...if youre running at high rpms and high boost this will not last forever
if you see scarring, youre done...no repairing it...new crank time
any comments?...i know im gonna get some now but thats what forums are for....opinions and suggestions from REAL world applications
