Re: sprung or unsprung clutch

the little springs in the clutch disc. they help smooth out engagement.

Depends what the car is going to be used for...if its a daily driver get a sprung disc if a weekend racer/track car the unspring I believe grip better just not realy for street driving

I believe the springs do help the life of the transmission quite a bit.

Re: sprung or unsprung clutch

Unsprung disk is more like an on off switch, its either on or off and you can`t really "ride"/slip it as easy as a sprung clutch, it makes noise, it shock your drive train but who really cares, like Dustin (turbohf) said : "it ain`t no taxi" :6

either way you can still drive it like a regular car but take some practice to start off smooth.

Go with the sprung, Unless you building a real race car, you wont go wrong.

I have a sprung 6-puck on my car. Engagement is pretty smooth, and seems to be holding the power just fine. I definately like it on my application.

Sprung FTW unless a drag car. I rock the sprung on my DD and occasionally I'll pull out with some chatter. I can't imagine the unsprung, and to all you who said it I never even thought about the drivetrain shock. :-X

Springs are just more things that could go wrong, and unsprung clutches are JDM.

exactly...unsprung is not hard to get used to at all. since a friend of mine had springs fly off his clutch and destroy his trans i like the idea of unsprung

Re: sprung or unsprung clutch

Honestly I went with the unsprung because of the lower price

People say it chatters and its like a switch and everything

I got used to it in a day, its astill a little jerky on hills and slow accel when im not paying attention

but if you have a fairly strong leg, you can ease the clutch out on a hill no problem

I like it, doesnt affect me at all and I hear no noises
