Yeah, there are brush fires burning from south GA all the way down as far south as Miami...You can walk outside anywhere within' a 50 to 100 mile radius of my house and it's allll smokey and ---- as if someone was burning a big pile of trash or something...Stinks, and gives you a head and stomachache, especially someone like me who doesn't smoke cigarettes and nobody in their house does either...We haven't had ANY rain here(at least at my house) in like over 3 weeks, possibly a month, month and a half...So if you're riding through south GA or FL by any chance, PLEASE do not throw out your cigarette butts...Smokey the Bear 'ppreciates it...

They actually caught two little punks starting fires purposely within' the last week, they were put out before any real damage was done but it could've been bad(can't get a whole lot worse), it's just so dry here...The original fire in Waycross, GA started when some workers were welding on the railroad, a spark flew out and POOF!!, 175,000 acres have burned in that area now at least, including a area called the Okeefenokee swamp, it's a wildlife preserve, lots of cool ---- there...They now also have fires in Pearson and Atkinson County and down in Lake City, FL...They say that down in Waycross, they could get 10 INCHES of rain(which isn't gonna happen) and it still wouldn't put out the fire, cause it's done burned way down into the peat moss...

yep, definitely hot and dry here. last two days i've been at little 1-2 acre fires. i guess the good thing about it is i'm getting OT for it. ;D

---- Central texas got flooded twice in the last 2 months. I don't think i have to worry about that coming here.

WE'RE GETTIN' SOME RAIN!!! I washed my car at like 3:30 or so this afternoon hoping to bring it on, and sure enough when I pulled my car into the carport at about 8:30, it started like 2 or 3 minutes later...Now it just needs to keep up for like 2 or 3 more days...

:-\ Well, figured I'd update it...The fires have been burning this entire time, it was smokey outside EVERY morning last week. BUT hurricane season started this past week and there have already been 2!! tropical storms. We saw 2-3 inches of rain Saturday from this latest one, TS Barry...Hope it helped with tha fire...Either way it was the first REAL rain we've seen in AT LEAST 2 months, so we needed it...

yea we also got some very needed rain....the smoke wasn't to bad but there was 1 day that it was really bad couldn't see ----...

When we were in Nashville like the middle of last week. You could actually smell it and it gave the city a nice hazy look. I woke up that morning and was watching the news and they were talking about the fires and all the smoke from it. Then they said that there would be a smokey look and I didn't believe it but sure ----. It smelled like a campfire downtown but not very strong but you could smell it.

I read an article earlier and they were sayin' that the rain didn't put out the fires but it definitely helped, and should cut down on the constant smokiness(was rollling in every morning and evening here for AT LEAST the last two weeks)...they said that in places the fire had actually burned 5 FEET into the ground(peat moss is good fuel evidently)...that will take quite awhile to completely extinguish, but this weekend was a start...

It rained about half of this weekend here in SC. I swear that's the first time I've seen rain in like 4 months.

its not smokey in my town today but im shure it will be back tommorow morning. i live in southern ga. so its ben pretty bad lately. ben hell on my sinus's and i never have sinus problems.

I was driving through Alabama on my way North from Florida where I vacated and it was extremely smokey and smelled, particularly like near Troy, AL
