Using a grinder won't make it completely flat either.

Take it to a machine shop and have them surface it, they might not even charge $20 and it will be better than a grinder could do.

actually if you have a chop saw like i do..... you can grind that bith perfectly flat on it.... i actually did it before when steve had a gay ass T3 flange on his manifold warped to hell..... it was so bad you could stick a penny in there.....about 5 minutes of grinding, and it was flat again..... stop on by on the weekend pm me for details

oh yeah, and while im talkin about my exhaust mani, when i took it off, the far right side of it is much darker than the rest of the mani, where it mates to the head. does anyone know what could cause that? i havent driven my car just let it idle (or try to idle) and it is running hella rich cuz i checked the spark plugs.

A warped head flange will cause that. It just means exhaust gasses are going across it.

Yea I know that he bolts his head flanges down before he welds them to prevent that, but anything is possible.
