Man found guilty in Bush Qaeda plot

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (Reuters) - A U.S. man was found guilty on Tuesday of conspiring with and aiding al Qaeda and plotting to assassinate
President George W. Bush.

A 12-member federal jury at the U.S. District Court found Ahmed Abu Ali, 24, guilty of all charges in a nine-count indictment. He had been charged with conspiring to support and supporting al Qaeda, conspiracy to kill Bush and conspiracy to commit aircraft hijacking.

U.S. District Judge Gerald Bruce Lee set a February 17, 2006, date to sentence Abu Ali, who faces life in prison.

Abu Ali was arrested in June 2003 while studying at a Saudi university. He signed confessions and made statements admitting to the plot against Bush and to having ties to an al Qaeda cell.

He was held in Saudi Arabia for 20 months before being sent back to the United States earlier this year to face trial.

In the statements, Abu Ali said he and senior members of an al Qaeda cell in Medina, Saudi Arabia, discussed how he could kill Bush. He said they also talked about other types of attacks, including September 11-like hijackings that could be carried out in the United States.

Prosecutors said Abu Ali's goal was to become a planner of terrorist operations like Mohamed Atta -- believed to be the ringleader of the September 11 hijackers.

Abu Ali said he made up the confessions in order to stop members of the Saudi domestic security police from torturing him.

Saudi officials deny the accusations of mistreatment. U.S. prosecutors -- who based most of their case against Abu Ali on statements made in Saudi Arabia -- said there was no evidence to prove Abu Ali had been tortured.

the fact that we know for a fact that saudi arabia tortures prisoners and the 12 jurists were actually retarded enuf to go along with this sickens me.

there is no proof against this guy other than the fact that he signed papers in saudi arabia where he "admitted" that he carried out those acts.

saudi arabia torture tactics include but are not limited too:
tieing the detainee's hands behind there back and dropping them off a chain.
electrical torture on all parts of the body.
the water drip method.
the cell filled with water.
the open wound where you either admit or bleed to death.
pumping air into the detainee's anus to inflate there intestines. which causes bursting. and lots of other internal damage.
hammer to detainee's fingers.
burning detaining with red hot branding irons.
sleep deprivation through noise.
torture through noise.
holding detainee's familys hostage. and thretning to harm them.
sodomy.


so why the ---- are we convicting a dude based on confessions he made in a different country that advocates torture.
why do we not stand him to the test of our (in)justice system?
if almost all the hijackers were of saudi decent. and were born/raised/trained there then why do we not take action against saudi arabia?
if one of the reasons we took out saddam is becuase he was a dictator (this went from wmd's to him being a dictator) then why dont we take out the saudi regime?


remember when bush came out after 9/11 and said we have made progress in the war against terrorist and what not.. and weve haulted a terorrist sleeper cell in detroit? it turned out that the prosecuter fild false charges. and got judges to sign unnessisary search warrants. and all this bs which showed up more than a year ago. why the ---- is it that the prosecuter isnt tried untill now?
