Is the "JDM" sohc zc just the d16a6? like all the parts to get would be for the d16a6?

Pretty much everything's identical, unless you got a zc vtec...then it's identical to a z6 ;)

Yep he speak's the turth, i have the zc vtec and a z6 ive heard rumor's about the cam being differnt on the zc but iv'e compared the motor's and i cant seem to find a differnce. I even put the z6 cam in the zc just to see it ran just like the zc cam.
