Hell yeah! YOu can do anything with a dremel tool! I just used one to make a slot for a flat tip screw driver to take out a bolt.

Ive polised wheels...
stripped paint...
made a hole in a speaker box....
there are many uses. For the $40 it costs, its well worth the investment!

would i be able to use it on the outside of the hf manifold to sooth out the rust and ---- ... make it lok all perty withough damaging it???? it wont be more prone to cracks or anything will it???

how bout smoothing out and cleaning/polishing up a block a little?? would it do that?? or is there a better tool for stuff like that????

Dremels suck for large jobs. I wouldn't even consider polishing a rim with one. That could take weeks. For small jobs, they kick ass. I've had mine for like 6 years and I've used the ---- out of it. Well worth the money. They make hundereds of bits for them.

so what kind of tool would you use for a larger job???

You would be far better off renting an air compressor and getting an air tool to do the work of the dremmel. Dremmel's are just so weak, and got hot when you run them at higher RPMs. They're not very efficient for polishing.

but they cut plastic good, wood alittle, youy cna engrave your stuff! :o i use the metal cutting bit and it works damn good for what it is.

Re:So what can i do with a dremel tool??? worth it??? diffrent kinds????

Buy the dremel! The uses are endless and not just for your car. I swear by my dremel. I ported and polished my entire head with a dremel. But the Dr. is right, for large jobs the Dremel isn't going to be the best choice. There is always going to be a bigger or better (more expensive) tool for a job. The dremel is very cost effective and has hundreds of attachments. When (if) you come upon a job too big for the dremel rent what you need.

Buy the biggest kit available, you'll get almost everything you'll ever need. I got that one and I got the flex-shaft attatchment that comes in very handy, the roto-zip attatchment and a ---- ton of bits in a sweet case, it really is worth it, I think I paid close to $100 for mine, but I have never had to buy any other bits or attatchments.

It's worth it to buy one with a kit that had all the attachments and a case.

I've had the best luck with the dremel brand name ones and the craftsman kind. Don't waste your money on immitation ones or black & decker brand.

Don't bother with the ones with digital readouts or the cordless ones. Just get the basic one and use the ---- out of it for small precision jobs, like cleaning up a small weld or rheaming out a hole.

A die grinder is what you need for larger jobs, like porting cast iron.. it can be done with the dremel but a die grinder is so much easier. You can always pick up a cheap pancake compressor and die grinder for something quick & easy.

Dremels are alright for small jobs. The manifold will take awhile. Dremels just dont have much torque so they dont cut fast but expect 3 hours or so to get the job done right.

Re:So what can i do with a dremel tool??? worth it??? diffrent kinds????

My best advice is to get a variable speed one with at least 5 settings with the highest up around 30,000 rpms. I have a craftsman rotary tool that was a gift. It's a single speed 27,000 rpm version. There are times I really wish I could slow it down. I also find that the right angle attachment comes in very handy, if you can find a kit that includes it, get it. I think it's around $15 if you buy it separate.

thanks guys!! im gonna go check out a craftsman one ... i buy must my tools at sears .....

and i have a 27,000 rpm air die grinder at work .... will that work well to cut up the cast iron manifold??? or do i need on with higher rpms?????

Re:So what can i do with a dremel tool??? worth it??? diffrent kinds????

That die grinder will work assuming that it's a nice flowing pnumatic one. I forgot to metnion about the speed variance, the upper model ones will have what you need. The crappy ones are single speed.. ---- that

My dremel is damn cool. I got one from Kragen for not even 30 bucks, and the first thing I made was diffusers for my rear bumper...

Re:So what can i do with a dremel tool??? worth it??? diffrent kinds????

well, i was on my way to sears to go buy a dremel today... and on my way, i get a phone call from my brother--- " yo man my car just ------- died ... started sputering and blowing out white smoke. "

so naturaly i had to spend the monet i brought with me on a compression tester instead of the ------- dremel i wanted!!!

it sucks, cause i just dropped this d16a6 into his dx crx last week!!!! DPFI to MPFI and everything!!!! what apain in the ass.....

so it looks like ill be having to put a head gasket in and use even more money for a nice torque wrench......

im just hoping that its just a head gasket.... and not the rings .. im guessing gasket cause i see oil leaking from the head .....

oh well, maybe ill have me dremel by christmas time!!!!
