you are the lienholder/lienowner. you coulda just called a tow company to repo the car long ago.

lien owner = legal owner.

like a bank. lien owner, repos car when not paid.

I would check in to everything more and find out about the cars condition after being in an impound yard for 2 monthes before forking over $800

The tow company just wants their $$$$$$$ But you need to check everything in your state laws about towing

They are supose to contact you way sooner you may be able to get a way cheaper impound if they fucked up like i said cheak your local laws if you want to save money on the car and "SELL" the car for $500 then sue then resell for $3500

Alabama small claims monetary limit is $3000.

Maybe you can do a separate charge for the $800 they cost you?

Ah well could sell for $1500, sue for $2000 + 800, and then hold on to it a few months for no confusion and resell for $3500.

Yeah I'm trying to look it up now. It's about an hour and half away, so I asked the guy at the tow yard the condition and he said the body and motor looked good. I know the kid who had it so I doubt good is the word I would use. I am going to go look at it and ask to drive it. If it's trashed I will just let them have it and sue them in court for the full price. What exactly would I look under for my state laws (AL)?

I had a buddy that was called to go to Judge Mathis' show....

FYI - all judge shows are like this

I would try to settle it out of court first. I would write them a letter, ask them for the money for the car and the impound fee's or they will be taken to small claims court Send that ---- certified and keep copies/receipts, etc. try to continue to be the nice guy. Then give them like a week to contact with arrangements or they will receive a court order. If you go to court with all out of court options completed, I think it will only benefit you.

If they wanna settle out of court, get them for whatever they offer you (reasonable amount) get the ****** out of impound and then sell it.
