Nice project man. Weld some 54r onto the grill like some teeth and paint it like a shark. Then when you hit someone, it's like fireworks.

Weld push bars on it. Drive wrecklessly, intimidate old people and pedestrians.

Re: so me and stelseltizm have been working on making a demo car

My first demo car a few years ago ran better than my daily so I threw it on the road for a month before the demo.

Once the doors got too bashed up to open properly we just started running ---- over with the front bumper. Good stupid times

I still need some ---- if anyone in the area wants to help out. Mainly a plastic battery box, a small metal boat gas tank, and some 3/8 chain to hold ---- together. I only need it until Saturday then I'll give it back, all but the chain should survive no problem.

Re: so me and stelseltizm have been working on making a demo car

i no longer have the boat tank, but i still have that ford coupe tank that isnt being used

Donk it.

J/K.

Donk sucks more than rice.

40" rims make me want to poke my eyes out.

Re: so me and stelseltizm have been working on making a demo car

It took me awhile to figure what you meant by "demo" car. A fried has an 80 somethin' model Lincoln Town car. It is basically just the undercarriage and drivetrain of the car. It has NO body panels whatsoever. Big brush guards welded up front and back, two WOODEN bench seats, and a 302 windsor. It was built by a cop, my buddy calls it a dune buggy. I need to get some pics. It is one of the most insane things ever to be seen on a public highway...One day of the year when the town allows you to drive ANYTHING on the public roads.

stenseltizm 08-12-2008 06:51 PM

Re: so me and stelseltizm have been working on making a demo car

demo as in demolition derby. You rip out/off all the trim, lights, glass, door handles, interior minus seat. move the battery and fuel tank inside. chain all your doors, hood, trunk, bumpers. And ram into a dozen other cars that have done the same.

Good time if I can get the fucker finished. Getting home from work at 10pm when I live 20 minutes from the field the car gets worked in has been kicking my ass. Demo is this saturday.

It is so ghetto it is amazing. I managed to get the rad in and filled with water and run a piece of wire to the carb. then twisted some wires together for the old school hotwire and drove the thing up and down the gravel road. That 4 barrel deffinately makes the tiny engine much less suck.

All this is being done in an abandoned field that hasn't been mowed in 4-8 years. I just ditched the car there when I lost the lot it was being stored in, you can see the weeds tramped down to get to the car and start working on it. I keep getting critters crawling out of ---- once the sun goes down.

you really want something with a leaf spring rear end........put those stupid swimming noodles inside your tires so they don't run completely flat when they get crushed.....f the rad....one good front end hit and it is toast.....weld one thick bar behind the drivers seat.....if your real into it remove the body and reweld te factory welds....toughens it up real good(some derby rules frown on this).......and if you want a indestructable cr find a old galaxy wagon or a imperial.....they are good body wise for at least 4 or more derbies

they dont allow the full frame, pre-crumple cars according to what tim told me. i suggested the same thing. can't do bracing to these cars either, apparently

crappy those galaxys and imperials are the ------- ----...so i guess no filling the frame with concrete :6...but i know they are a unfar advantage and most of the derbys i go to are startig ot make them illegal.....alot of them are going to cars from the 70's....been thinking of buiding a sub compact for a derby but i've been making some headway on my civic and don't want to put the time into a derby car now

unibody cars excel at a 'stock car' demo derby

stenseltizm 08-17-2008 02:15 AM

Re: so me and stelseltizm have been working on making a demo car

Almost didn't make it cause I cut the brake lines accidentally thinking they were the fuel lines :1
Spent a few hours and a couple trips to the auto store to fix that one.

they split it up into 3 classes. 70's 80's and compacts that had under a certain wheel base. It kicked ass, I managed to get through the first round after the last car in the top 4 blew a tranny line moments after the wire fell off my distributor. The top 4 of each round got to continue to the next round.

In the feature event I almost got rolled by a station wagon, and got pinned on a dead car pretty quick so that was disappointing. It still kicked ass and I can't wait to do it again. This car is toast but I may know where to get another one already.

I know this post is worthless without pics, but I'll update with pics and vids tomorrow.

UPDATE! Picks of Demo aftermath no 56K

Stripping an 82 we couldn't get the rear windshield out, damn glue was so hard and old it broke every wire we tried to use on it. We had to come up with a new idea...
WD-40 and a lighter. Melted the glue and came right out

Car stipped; banded; battery and gas tank relocated; wiring reduced to battery, toggle switch, alternator, starter, and push button; Basically ready to be destroyed.

http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...moDerby025.jpg

How my front looked after the making it through the heat. They take the top 4 cars, my dizzy wire fell off as the 5th car but the 4th car blew a tranny line seconds later so they took me.
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...moDerby027.jpg
This is how she looked from the side, the ass end was bending down pretty hard, frame pushed into the rear wheels and the quarter panels were in the rear tires. It still ran so I was ready to ---- someone up
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...moDerby029.jpg
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...moDerby031.jpg

I only got a couple good hits in, 1st one really fucked up my ass end. Then someone cleaned my clock from the passenger side. I barely got it started and moved out of the way as he came back to do it again, but he got hung up on my bumper and we were both out. :7 ------- sucks that it drove out of the arena after. Oh well to the scrap yard on Monday.

it was good redneck white trash fun. I asked a guy if his car was a buick lesabre and his reply was 'no it's a buick' in almost uncomprehendable studdering english. I think he had about as many brain cells as he did teeth.

I got a couple shitty ass vids I'll try to post up.

Bullshit, we threw it at tdc dropped a vac advanced dizzy in pointing at no 1 cyl and blipped the starter. After we threw the jy carb on with all vac ports plugged minus dizzy we fired it up. Dizzy was cranked a touch each direction until it seemed the easiest to start. Timing mark on the crank wheel was nowhere near any of the notches or the little sight tube so we left it.

Here's a short vid showing how little stategy I had there: Keep pedal floored try to hit ---- with rear of car
I'm 29 2nd car from right in back row, got a couple good hits in the beginning

Then my very short stint in the 'feature' event. This is the one where they go to last car moving and give him a couple bucks.
i'm back car on the right side, got one good hit in then got blasted
