So im driving on I90...

and driving straight in the left lane passing an 18 wheeler in the TL and look down for a sec to change cds at 545am... then BAMMM, 3 pass side airbags go off as somthing absolutely ROCKS the car and the car is all over the road, shaking and not responding well to steering input, so i keep the car on the road and slow down gradually and make it over to the right shoulder and survey the damage. Im thinking WTF?? How in the world?? A blown tire wouldnt cause that much damage would it? So i change the tire and the wheel is completely destroyed, with a football sized hole right in it... Now im very confused. What could i have hit soo hard that would have destroyed my wheel and made messed up some pass side lower molding? As well as set off 3 airbags? What in the world? So there is this trucker that is pulled off the road ahead of me maybe 150ft after where i rolled to a stop... and he walks back to me and goes Hey, have you seen a driveshaft a few hundred yards back? Now i gotta get her fixed... anybody else hit road debris like that and had their airbags go off?

Big ass Jackstand flew off the bed of a flat bed truck on Hwy 18 onto my hood left a football sized dent/shatered headlight...

Followed the driver for 10 miles before he stopped. He played stupid, I just asked for his company name, then called his manager right there on my cell phone. They cut me a check the next day for 500$ (i said just give me a check and I wont claim anything and Id take care of it).

The key is trying to be forcefull without being a prick about it. Bottom line is those guys are just doing there job too... and ---- happens I was just really happy the thing didnt go through my windsheild

I was taking the Rickenbacker causeway yesterday behind a big fishing boat being towed, we hit the uneven pavement where the construction was and about a four foot dolphin fell out of that guys lockbox as well as another fish. The dolphin blew up on my windshield and the other one flew under the tire.
The car now reeks.

Sorry for you, I hope you got his info. I don’t know what the hell is up with ------- trucks on the road lately, I’ve been on the interstates a lot lately and I noticed there is not one mile that doesn’t have ------- debris of some kind mostly full tire treads. There is no ------- accountability for this ---- on the road and if you hit it you’re just fucked.

Re: So im driving on I90...

Driving to Georgia on a small 2 lane highway, everyone is travelling about 75-85. It's two lanes, with a very deep dropoff about 3-4 feet off each side of the road, no guardrails. There are two cars ahead of me, I see the very front one swerve, didn't know why. The one behind it swerved a little too late and clipped a huge ----------in tire tread sitting in the center of the highway. It flies into the air, and since my del slo windshield was already cracked, I tried to avoid hitting it. Car does a nice 520 degree spin at the top of the hill. I ended up spun around in the same lane. Fortunately BOTH lanes saw what was happening and stopped, and I managed to spin in a straight line instead of plummeting off the side of the highway. Since the traffic was stopped, and I'd feel guilty if someone died because of that ----, I walked over to it, gave it my best -----you-two-birds-in-the-air pose and threw it off the highway.

Bitches need to clean their ---- up.

I`ve only ran over a rock twice the size of a drinking cup. I was doing 90 ish making a slight turn on the freeway and BAM, the passanger goes really low LOL and somehow it took a hugh chunk off the tire ..

yea people really need to at least pickup their ---- and set it on the side of the freeway. My older brother hit a pallet once on the street lol . I`ve also seen sofa, mattresss and box springs on the freeway lol . The sofa caused a 10+ car pile up. the box spring went into piece and all over the freeway.

Missed a tool cabinet off a construction truck by maybe a couple feet. Ended up being on the news caused a 3 car accident in vegas all I saw was sparks behind me it was late night. That was wild. I wonder if insurance will cover you on this kind of stuff? Atleast the truckers should

Re: So im driving on I90...

Pending on where the driveshaft bounced up an hit along the frame rail, you could have easily triggered the side impact crash sensor. Even though you were still traveling foreward, it would have taken the force as a side impact at speed, but since it didn't decect a change in movement, your lucky the rest of the airbags didn't go off.

I've never hit anything crazy like that, but I have lost a driveshaft before. :P Broke the u-joint all to ---- and the driveshaft popped out along with about 8 quarts of tranny fluid. :S I ended up running the damn thing over, but that old pile of ---- didn't have air bags to worry about. :3

I did this same exact thing. Instead of tranny fluid it whipped around a beat the oil pan a couple times. ------- ruthless. This was right after i had the tranny replaced, these ------- tool bags couldn't tell that the drive shaft was tweaked a little bit.

I saw a boxspring fly off of a truck on an expressway going over a bay during rush hour traffic. The thing must've been 20-30 ft in the air. I wished that I could have seen it touch down on someones car.. >:D

I was driving down a backroad with a friend one time in the middle of the night, then i look up to notice theres like 50 ------- cows in the middle of the road. What makes it worse is that they are all black cows. So i'm like 25 feet away hauling ass, i manage to swerve and miss a couple of them, and then BAM i smash into one. It rolls over my hood then back on to the ground. Fucked my whole hood and bumper up. No motor damage. I had to rock the fake carbon fiber black hood for a while :8 After I hit the cow, me and my buddy herded them into some ladys yard and they ate up her garden >:D but atleast no one else was going to hit them :S

damn that sucks. Where were you on the 90? You live in western NY don't you? I need to catch up with you sometime-- I'm hopefully doing my f22 turbo into hatch project this fall, pending location of a cheap swap. Well I'll be home in about a week if you want an extra wrenching hand-- I work for beers.

First post newbie? We want pictures of your old girlfriend, preferably before the disfiguring bike accident. Unless its at the scene and all her clothes were ripped off from the accident.

Re: So im driving on I90...

side airbags deploy based on change in air pressure in the door. if the pressure rises or falls too fast they blow.
now the front airbags are crash sensor, they work like a knock sensor almost. if a certain frequency vibration is felt they deploy.

you must have made the driveshaft hit the underside of your car really hard to deploy the front bags, you can deploy the side ones with a well placed kick

A customer who owns a crane company had one of his cranes break down and needed to be towed. The owner of the company was following the towed crane in his corvette when the rear end of the crane exploded. The corvette ran over the differential which went right through the floor.Pretty much totaled the 'vette.

Driving on i17s behind some huge ass SUV.. They swerved and it dawned on me something was in the lane...

what was it?

THOSE ------- METAL SKELETON THINGS THAT THEY PUT ON TRUCKS TO HOLD LADDERS AND TOOLS. THE ENTIRE ------- THING. :S :S

I swerved hardcore with only about a car and a half maybe two cars before I hit it... ------ a... thank god my suspension in my car isn't mushy I'd have probably tumbled down the freeway when I corrected it three lanes over :X

Look in my rear view mirror, and *bam* some person nails it in a minivan.

Also driving on the i17s I was going around the durango curve and some jackass ricer boy was hauling ass through the curve... blindly moved into the slow lane.. and nailed a pallet of newspapers.

Seriously, there needs to be some major ------- accountability here for these fucks that drop ----. :(

Worst I had was hauling ass up the onramp to the 17 south... got to where it merges into the single lane... ------- mat of some sort that's a couple inches tall. nailed it... there was nowhere for me to go... It ripped my power steering cooler air diverter off and one of the clamps on my exhaust off. :(

I've been lucky enough to not have hit anything...yet :l

One morning I was driving in a down pour w/poor visability and next thing I know theres something in the road completely blocking my lane, I believe it was a big ass roll of carpet but not sure. Braking was pointless but I managed to change lanes just in time and not hit anyone around me. I know someone had to have hit it though.

Re: So im driving on I90...

These type of stores are my driving nightmare, but even with all the driving I've down in the last few years, I've only had a few close calls.

The worst of which being a big branch in the road (driving in a slammed integra) that I skidded to a stop to not run over, while it was raining, foggy, and I was very tired.

The other being some massive roadkill, big cat, big possum, or small dog, cant remember...but that would have not been good for my civic hatch that was about 2 inches high in the front.

My one friend hit a big possum with his accord and it bent the bottom of the front crossmember in, it dented in his condenser real bad, and poked a hole in his rad, while ripping off the lip he had on teh front. It was a damn funny mess.
