so im driving home and my ---- quits twice on me, crazy dash ---- too inside
alright, '98 rodeo v6/5spd, ------ comin home, im at a light, start forward, ready to let foot off clutch, and its like im in 5th gear all of a sudden when i let my foot off, ****** dies cold.
i get a few miles down the road after i have a guy help push me to bump start it, lights seem kinda dim. bout 15 secs later, my abs light comes on. then flashes, and goes out. next was the airbag, followed by check engine, then the upshift light. then, my dash goes dim like its being powered by candlelight, ------ needles wrap up to max, back down, twitch a few times, and i get a really fast flashing CEL, ---- dies. i try to WOT, nothin. rolled key off, on, nothin. i turn lights off, and it spudders, comes back like brand ------ new everything, cept abs light was still on. what the ---- would do this? i know i need a starter but ----, it's not that technical. bad ecu? i have no obd2 scantool to look for codes.
cliffs: complete sudden electrical clusterfuck.

Sounds like an alternator spike and then not charging. hook up a voltmeeter to the cig lighter and watch the volts next time it freaks out, if its low or high you'll know its a charging issue.l

I had a 96 Trooper do the same thing. Voltmeter spiked out and it died. Knew the alternator was going bad, replaced and reset codes. I also had a bad chassis ground right inside the passenger side fender. Might wanna check the grounds.

i just had it at the garage for recalls.. one being abs module, the other being the possibility for the gas pedal to crack in half/rear axle bolts stretch too much.
it felt like a new map behind the engine, ran way too smooth for them not touching any ---- in there.
you guys sure this isnt a bad ecu or some ----? i seriously dont see how it can cause such a voltage drop, and not smoke itself.
when it died the second time while moving, the ------ thing was off for at least 35 seconds. i went from 35 to 20 over a course of about 1/4mi.. roughly 30 seconds
