k181s kohler engine, cast iron block, seems to need a freshening up, i think the rings are shot. idk transmission details, probably a 3 or 4 speed, but looks like a 4x4" bolt pattern though, so possible to throw on some honda rims, make a trike/gocart out of it since i have ford front spindles/rotors (and rims) and some subie rims that may fit the rearend with modification

Kohler called me yesterday and offered me a Coop engineering position. I was kinda pissed. They were my top choice but i had already accepted an offer a couple months ago. Kohler is friggin awesome.

this motor is from the early 60's, so you know it isnt gonna be like a tecumseh and eat a rod at 3800 rpm, where a briggs will push 5500 all day and only bend a valve or some ----

ugh you fuckhead, i never said i was going to use the motor even if IT was any good, which its not. whoever had it, ran it out of oil and kept going, the piston wiggles side to side on the wristpin, and you can look down and see the rings on the one side. NO compression, piston is basically fucked and i doubt i will get one ti replace it. the rearend is all cast iron, and its 5bolt, looks like 5x4.5", i looked too quick at it last night, and ive got a bunch of those rims laying around.

got it running today. mechanical fuelpump, 15amp alternator, elec starter, all that good ---- and this is an early 60's motor! piston is fucked but it still runs cleanly

Bigger isnt always better you get a 2-stroke 80cc or 125cc and add the right gears and get 90mhp. Why use a huge heavy 250cc turd of a motor.

you get me to ~65mph in a hurry on a ------- homemade go-kart and i'll be grinning ear to ear.

frame 80lbs + 150lbs motor/trans/etc + 180lbs of man = ~400lbs / 50hp = 8lbs/hp
thats equal to a 250hp 2000lb civic, or a worked k20 in a gutted CRX, its gonna be sick
