Yes, it's still a Neon. I would probably take the keys for an SRT-4 over the car I have now if somebody wanted to give it to me for free, but only because it's a newer car that I could drive on the highway without a bunch of drone in my ear. I wouldn't take it because it's any faster than the car I have now, beacuse if you watch the video of my car vs. a lightly modded SRT-4, it's not really any slower than one until you get close to the 100mph and 1/4 mile mark.
My car is also 15 years old and has a lot more miles on it than that SRT-4. My car cost me about 10% of the price of a new SRT-4. What does an SRT-4 have that my car doesn't? I don't think it looks any better than my car, but that's just my opinion. The only thing it has is that it's a newer car. How can you compare a new car to an old car in terms of value.
The only thing that makes an SRT-4 any better than a car like mine, which is NOT rare at all, is that it's newer. What is so good about that? Sure an SRT-4 might be more reliable than my car for a few years, but once it gets down in the actual price range of my car it won't be any more reliable than mine.
If I was going to buy a new sport compact, I'd buy the Cobalt SS Supercharged because it doesn't look half as gay as an SRT-4 in my opinion. And guess what!! They still ------- make the Cobalt SS Supercharged, can you go out and buy a brand new 2006/2007 Neon SRT-4? You can't even buy the damn things anymore to my knowledge, you have to get that big gay SUV looking thing.
I could rant on and on about why an SRT-4 isn't all that great until my fingers fall off, but it's just not worth it. The bottom line is that an SRT-4 is really NOT that great. If you want to talk about a good, cheap car that can be upgraded to hell and back let's talk mustangs and camaro's. Maybe not brand new they're not cheap, but used ones are pretty cheap and have a lot more potential than an SRT-4.
Will you argue that a neon offers more potential or bang for your buck than a used recent model mustang or camaro? I should hope not. :1

compare it to the brand new acura and honda cars
it beats them all easily and costs less

I don't even know why anybody would want to buy a new Honda or Acura unless they wanted a new car that gets good mileage. You can buy a used car for much cheaper that does the same thing and is just as reliable.
The bottom line is that there are other cars out there that make the SRT-4 look silly in terms of value and performance, so in the bigger picture it's really not all that great. It's still wrong wheel drive and it's still 4 cylinders, not to say you can't have a car set up like that be fast, but it's not optimal.
