has anybody passed a california smog test with a HMT on their car? if they have i would like to know how they did it or if these turbo kits are legal? especial in california?

ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!! california sucks!!! ha ha ha ha ha !!!! here in the great state of NY nobody cares about emissions. and a bunch of people run ghetto turbo kits (actually, mostly drag kits, which ore overpriced and gay). but no, u will never pass. like i said, run 3 cat converters. you'll be set spence!!!

i dont think a homemade kit would ever pass because of everything needing a carb sticker or whatever. i dont live in cali but i have heard the horror stories of failing because of a few missing hoses. you could tune a turbo setup to pass the muffler test with a standalone (make the redline 3000 rpm, and run it lean hahaha) but not having all the emissions hoses and stickers is where they will get you.

Just like <I like pizza> said, HEELLLLL NO! It must be a stock turbo or have that damn CARB number on it. Just take your hmt off and return it to stock every 2 years.

i know people in the mr2 group that have a "smog motor" every 2 years the sway it over and pass w/ flying colors...

that being said a good motor w/ low boost w/ properly tuned engine managment could pass the siffer... but unless you got a few ben's in the wallet for the person doing visual you aint passin
