Well i read this nifty article in the LA Times.... basically stating that in california, especially los angeles and surrounding counties will soon be equipped with smog sniffing sensors located on freeway onramps (if the beurocrats get there way), there gonna be equiped with freakin lasers to detect the amount of HC your car produces, if its too much its gonna snap a picture of your plates and send the info the DMV or whatever and send you a angry letter letting you know your car is a POS...

but thats not the worst of it... apparently in OC they used to do this and then radio the CHP and instead of getting an angry little letter (ive gotten 4 of them) they pull your ass over and check your ----...

Now that really sucks ass... this is just another reason why california is going to hell...

----, MN wouldn't know what to do if you couldn't drive a "winter beater". It's like in the winter, everyone has these buckets with rusted holes all the way through them to drive in the snow/salt. There's no way one of those things would pass a smog test.

I can't stand bullshit laws like that. They'll start out with a "warning letter", and next month your first offense will be $500. ---- Ca.

The South Coast district estimates that 10,000 to 20,000 of the dirtiest vehicles would be detected. Smog regulators lack the authority to order drivers to dump dirty cars, but they can offer incentives.

i think this is aimed mainly at the buckets that drive around here. It' just like the government will buy your car if it meets certains conditions, age mainly, I don't remember if it has to fail smog or not. Basically you could buy a bucket for a hundred dollars, keep it registered for a year or two and then sell it to the government for 500-1000ish. An old friend of mine sold his beat ass toyota for like 1200. The government is just trying to crack down on these mass pollutors. This ---- don't worry me much.

do it, ---- I remember 2 requirements, there was an 'age' restriction and you had to have the car registered for at least a certain period of time. My buddy came up on that ----. His toyota was a hooptie

Have you ever noticed how school buses puff a ---- load of smoke out... i mean its a big ass bus, yeah... but you can taste that ---- from 100 feet away..... i saw one the other day on the freewaym and i thought that ---- was on fire from all the smoke it was huffin and puffin.... they have to crack down on that ---- and the diesel trucks...

that bus was most likely diesel. old diesels have bad reps for being dirty, like the one you saw, but the later ones are pretty epa friendly.

hey, no one mentioned the military, they got lots of polluters.

thats crazy! CA is getting to suck. Out here in NY it's getting tough as well with inspections not being to have you CEL on or you dont pass, but that still dosen't match CA...

you lucky bastard..... its funny when i was over there a long time ago... i back up into the curb and them pulled away and my muffler fell off, so i had to have it welded back on at a ghetto ass muff shop... i was there for like 30 mins and 2 cars came in to get their catalytic converters gutted, or cut off cause they were clogged up.... i was like damn... you can do that out here... You can run open DP out there and no one gives a damn...
