small turbo
I have a project I am starting, and I am looking for a small turbo! The project is an atv with a dirtbike motor. If anyone has a small turbo that they are looking to get rid of let me know. The smaller the better, due to space and the compression is to high to put alot of boost.

Re: small turbo
Talk to Chinoy. He's been turboing (I ASSume) Yamaha 350cc two strokes. He's in Bangalore, so some of the stuff he gets might be a little different from what we have here, but it's worth a shot.

Re: small turbo
Oops sorry for the confusion.
I work on RD350s and have Turboed some small cars. The car in Question being the 1.3 Ltr Suzuki. We have thought about Turboing a RD350 and a bullet 500. The problem being not finding the right turbo. New ones are avalible on ebay. A guy siting in Japan sells them. They are use on thier 800cc mini vans. There are also some turbos somebody was telling me about that dont need oil or watter. The oil is held in the Turbo. And they are really small Turbos. I looked at the CT10 and T10 turbos but even those seemed a bit on the large size. But doable. Ive seen a few T10s come up for sale on ebay for cheap. What ATV do you have the guys doing this the right way are using superchargers. You must have seen the TRX250 they supercharged. Only problem the supercharger cost a lot of $$$$. Which ever way you look at it a supercharge makes more sence. Is the ATV in question a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke. What size is it. One thing is for sure. None of the turbos youll find in a junk yard in your neck of the woods will work. Egay yours only choice. Go with the T10. Or the Jap guys. The Jap guy had a turbo smaller than a CD ROM last time I checked. |
Re: small turbo
"The Jap guy had a turbo smaller than a CD ROM last time I checked." Now thats something I wanna see! Damn a turbo with selfcontained lubrication. I wonder how it stays cool?

Re: small turbo
Oh the latest high tech super chargers also come with self contained lubrication.
One of the Turbo Books I was reading has a pic of a turbo no larger than a pack of Malbros. |
Re: small turbo
The motor is a honda 4 stroke, 650cc.

Re: small turbo
look aroound and see if you can find a turbo from one of the turbo honda watercraft, or who ever it is that has the turbo pwc.

Re: small turbo
cant you guys use an IHI RHB5? You know, a scooby one?
|
Re: small turbo
THe smallest one I found was an IHI RFB5 VI 13 The Exhaust inlet was so small you could barelly get two finger in. It comes as std. fitment on one of the TOyatoa Desiel Cars 1N if Im not mistaken.
The problem isnt just one off cc size. But the fact that with a single cylinder the Exhaust pulses are spaced so far apart from each other. Thats why its easier to Turbo A Banshee or any twin cylinder two stroke than it is a single cylinder thumper. Im pretty sure the T10 was the best we could come up with at the time. It should work for your application too. |
Re: small turbo
Maybe something like this or is this still too big?

Re: small turbo
I wouldnt but it without looking at its Compresor map.
But thats the Jap guys I was telling you about. And that is one of the smallest Turbos he sells. |
