sleep probs

I got problems sleeping. I've maybe gotten 8 hours this week. Ask Sem, I am always on MSN and lurking around other boards just for somthing to do. This is fucked. I need sleep. I am super drowsy, and when I do lay down, I just toss and turn. What should I do ? :-\

Re:sleep probs

I have never slept really good unless i get to bed. once im asleep im good for 12-14 hours. but the trick is getting to sleep, i listen to classical music when i sleep. hell i listen to it all the time anymore lol. I can suggest pieces that tend to calm my brain down enough to sleep.

see, that's what the hell you get for being younger than me. I used to not be able to sleep, now I just stay up late and fall asleep right away. I found that I have more trouble sleeping after drinking coffee, must be something in it?

Most likely stress. I use to have sleeping problems when I was younger. Chill out and jerk it will always do the ticket.

Re:sleep probs

My advice would be to stop drinking coffee, tea, or any soda with caffeine in it. Your imsomnia could also be related to stress in your life as well. If you were to drink coffee, tea, or soda, Id suggest you do it before 12pm and dont drink any of those caffeinated beverages after that time--might even want to consider stop drinking them in general. Oh yea, no RED BULL or any of those energy drinks either!

Also, do something that will relax you, whether it be listening to classical music, watching movies, or spanking your monkey... Doesnt matter, just make sure it relaxes you. You might want to consider some meditation while you are trying to sleep. Another thing to consider is make sure you aren't starving when you are going to bed... Sometimes that in itself will keep you up.

DO NOT take nyquil or any of those drowsy medicine unless you have to. Most people find that those medicine will actually make you feel groggy in the morning becuase it wasnt good sleep...

But if you feel like you've done everything you could, then I'd suggest you pay a nice visit to your primary care physician...

Let me know if I can be of any more help...

Re:sleep probs

cant sleep at night?

Get some ------- exercise and don't drink caffeine all day!!!

Go to the gym and toss around weights for 45 minutes, then do 20 minutes of cardio after that. You'll sleep like a baby at night and wake up feeling great - aside from sore muscles.

Re:sleep probs

I have this problem all the time and i pretty much leanred how to rectify it without any drugs.

Basically it comes down to a person needs to be awake for something like 12-15 hours to be able to sleep 8+ hours. So if i ever get in a bad habit...like falling asleep at 4AM and waking up at 2pm...what i do is wake up, eat shower. do whatever im going to do that day, you can exercise more to help this but im too lazy. 11ish eat a bowl of cereal. Then at 12AM go to bed. regardless if you are tired or not. Bring up a bottle of water. Jerk off then put on a movie uve seen a hundred times. turn your TV colors to as dark as possible...and just lay in bed. you will fall asleep around 1:30-2:00. and then just repeat until you are falling asleep at a normal time like 12:00-12:30.

What probably keeps you up is ------- around reading ---- on the computer.

Re:sleep probs

---- going to sleep, stay up as much as you can until you pass out. From then on stop drinking coffee at night. You have fucked up your circadian rythm and it needs to be reset. Just stay up until you can't any longer then go to bed at your regualr times from then on.

just start downing shots until you feel nice and warm, and the room starts to feel strange around you, then go to bed, youll sleep well. I havent slept much at all lately either, im kinda in ur boat...

Re:sleep probs

You actually sleep worse if you drink alcohol...youll fall asleep but you dont reach stage 4 sleep which is your deepest sleep and makes you feel rested when you wake up. Ambian and some antianxiety drugs like xanax promote stage 4 sleep which is why you feel great when you wake up.

hotrex 12-30-2003 10:13 PM

I drink every night and I sleep great. I'm asleep before my head hits the pillow and I wake up feeling like a million bucks. The last week or so I have been downing Nyquil(because I'm sick)and I wake up feeling like a ------- zombie. I can hardly function for the first hour of being awake after taking that ---- at night. Bud light seems to do the trick for me. ;D

When I was around 16-18 I did have trouble sleeping and I think it was stress related. I would just think about all kinds of ---- and worry about everything in the world. It would drive me nuts. I don't know what happened, but I got over it. Run around the block a few times before you go to bed, eat a big meal, drink a beer, RELAX. I have to have some sort of noise when I sleep too. I have the tv on all night just to make noise. I also use the fan, but it's too damn cold for that now.

Re:sleep probs

get tylenol "simply sleep" pills. i use to have anxiety problems and couldn't sleep unless i was drunk, so the one or two nights that i wasn't drunk, i would take these, they are great! the sell them over the counter and are just like prescription stregth, you'll be nodding out in like 30 mins. and you feel great and have no problems gettin up in the morning. i didn't sleep for two weeks once, no bullshit.

accordepicenter 12-31-2003 07:11 PM

Re:sleep probs

i dont think getting totally drunk would help you out much, but getting a little buzz makes me sleep that much better, and i usually wake up refreshed.
