Silver Bullet

So, my friend just blew his HG in his escort and I asked him what he going to do for a car. He said he could fix the Silver Bullet. WTF is the silver bullet? Turns out its an AE86 Corolla. He has no idea what its potential is, and I know very little. I only know of it because of Initial D. I know its a car worth keeping though, so for you yota guys.. whats the potential?

Stout little cars. I just sold my 86 a couple of months ago. Is it a GTS or a SR5? Determines if it's a 4age or not. A SR20DET mounts pretty easily in its engine bay.

Sell it to me. Tell him he doesn't want it, and you know someone that will trade him a nice stock civic with tons of options.

Re: Silver Bullet

SR5. Is that the 4AGE? If it is, post some info about the limits of that engine. i.e. how much psi on stock internals. Also, whats some common performance mods? Of course its going boosted, I wouldn't be a good friend if I let him keep it N/A. That would be an ------- move on my part. What do you use for tuning?

Re: Silver Bullet

Umm if it's a GTS then it's a 4AGE and if it's a SR5 then it's a shitty sohc carb'd engine. If it's a GTS then try to find a 4AGZE block and boost that. Lower compression already since it's supercharged and it bolts right in. As for fuel management. Majority of people are running like Megasquirt or if your a baller then like a Freedom Ecu. I think there's even a adapter harness you can get now that just connects to the stock 4AGE harness to the Megasquirt ecu. I'd tell you to check club4ag but the forum is down and will be down for sometime since their redoing it. Anything and everything can be swapped into those things. v8 lexus engines, 2JZ, RB26, SR20, 13B, KA24, F20C, 3SGTE, yada yada yada. Talk to myAE86turbo(chris) and he could give you some of the info since he's done it first hand.

Re: Silver Bullet

Ya I got a 85 GTS been boosting 10psi on a holset for like 2 months now
and so far I'm surprised that the block hasnt grenaded itself yet. But
when it does I got a spare rebuilt GZE, and when that blows it's KA24DEt time :6

Re: Silver Bullet

It's just the stock internals your worried about. It's already got a iron block. Don't get me wrong it's not no 2JZ, 4G, or RB block but can take a good pounding probably moreso then a AL block with floating cylinders.
