Default Should I buy this?

While moving last week, we had a tv fatality. I am in the market for a new tv and don't know crap about them. LCD? PLASMA? FLAT SCREEN? I don't know what to get, but I am looking at spending around a grand.
I found this one and thought it was a good deal, but what the ---- do I know, the last tv I bought was over 10 years ago.Hitachi 51" widescreen

it really depends on your budget. how much cash are you wanting to spend?
i'd go with something like this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1110265592005

it really depends on how much money you have.

I hear that plasma and lcd screens suck. I'd just get a true flat screen. with a cathode-ray-tube setup. They are proven to work well. plus I like the two of that type I have in my house. RCA.

Thats not really true at all, but if a pixel were to die on them, then they have to be replaced. In my opinion, if you are looking for the best quality picture, plasma is the way to go, but you have to pay to play with them, the cheaper ones are just plain ----. But given he only has about a thousand, I think you should get one of the older style projection tv's, as long as you don't mind the fading out when looking at an angle. Other than that, you will sacrifice the picture size, but an HD tube TV, like a 30-34" would fit that budget and with the right components rival plasma and LCD.
