i was thinking about getting an ebay special for like 12 bucks. debating on just buying a fidanza dual bend for 45 or the 12 ebay ---- stick. are they really that crappy or is it just personal prefference.?? :S

I much prefer a solid mounted shifter to a "short throw", some window sealer does the trick with DIY urethane shift mounts.
Aren't true "short shifters" supposed to use a gear ratio to decrease the actual throw as well as the effort required to shift, due to mechanical advantage? All I've seen lately are shortened shifter levers, last kit I saw with a new gear-equipped shift console was a Nuespeed kit in the late 90's

to decrease the actual throw you just need to extend the lower portion of the rod (under the ball). What i used to do was cut a little out of the top part and then weld it in the bottom

B&M's are tight go back pull it out and check the little bushing duder that slips in through the bottom. I bet your litle gaskets dudes arent in there good. mine rattled like a champ untill I got some new littel o ring deals. after that I greased the ---- out of it slipped it bakc in and no more rattles.

I like my short throw, just wish I would have paid less

are you talking about the 2 O rings that connect the bottom of the shifter to the shift linkage
cuz i changed them once got a little better but i think its the ball it self that has a little play

I've had a B&M one, it was nice but to much $$. The last shifter I modifyed, I removed material above the pivot ball and added it below the ball so the level point is adjusted. Then cleaned all the rust out and put in new rubber washers, greased it up and it worked great. Its cheaper than an Ebay special and you know its not gonna break.

Yeah thats it. CHeck that thing and see if there is play in it. Maybe try getting fatter o rings to make it a little tighter?
