i see. the importance of the job depends on which torque wrench you need plain and simple. if your working on honda civics in your driveway i would not think twice about cheap torque wrenches. i torque 99 percent of things without even buying a torque wrench. secrets of the trade states that tat tat tat at the end of hitting an impact gun equals proper spec. Complex chime in.

amen brotha!

every tat is exptentionally diminishing.

the first one adds 4 ft lbs, the second 2, the third is one. anything after that is good for .5ft lbs, give or take 4%

so that last 'tat tat tat' is roughly 5 ftlbs.

give those head studs a tat tat tat for extra security on head lifting

I have both craftsman and snap on torque wrenches. I took them to school and put them on the calibrator, and the craftsman was actually more accurate than the snap on. ever since all i use is the craftsman to put together my engines.

true, plus i like to use torque sticks for air impacts. Very nice and fairly accurate and faster than anything else.

like a torsion bar, they flex and at the set torque, the idea is they flex enough that the anvil just bounces.

I dont recommend amrpo torque wrenches. My in/lbs 3/8 doesn't click....ever. No matter what you set it to. My 1/2" ft/lb wrench is fine though. I felt like i should have done more home work. Gear wrench makes good stuffs though. I've spent well over $300 on tools from them. I just couldn't stop when i went to sears to get my lifetime replacement on a shitload of crapsman sockets and ratchets i broke.

Not a torque wrench, but I have some S-K 1/4" swivel sockets I got off the Matco truck years ago. I've used them with a 3/8" butterfly impact and an extension to break free some pretty aggressive stuff at odd angles, they are at least as good if not better than the Snap-on ones that sold for 2.5 times as much.

I'd be inclined to trust their torque wrenches.
