She's back... finally.

Well today I finally got the del Sol back on the road after I totally fried my clutch and tranny. Picked up a new tranny from Whitey and the clutch came from Gripforce.com for pretty cheap.

Anyways, I don't think I've ever shown the soldier to you guys so here it goes.

Close up of the little IHI.

Notice the spray-can style valve cover. Typical underhood rice.

I know its dark but there is a Tyrus in there.

Autometer Z-Series gauges. Love how it looks OEM.
http://www.rank1racing.com/sol/4.jpg

Custom 50/50 Tails. Looks clean, not ricey.

Look at that sexy beast right after the wash job.

Mods are:
IHI RHB5 Turbo @ 6-7psi
HF mani w/ 2.5 down pipe
Tyrus FMIC w/ 2.5 charge piping
Apex Twin Chamber BOV
Vortech FMU
Synapse Missing Link
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Stealthmode Oil Lines/Oil Line restrictor
Turbonetics MBC
Autometer Z-Series Gauges
Gripforce Stage 1 Sprung Clutch

The stock exhaust and huge ass charge pipes gives me quite a bit of lag but for now that just acts as good traction control.

I have a ------- beautiful Rank1racing.com (Shitbird) "ramhorn" manifold lying around that I'm putting in next week once the new IHI arrives. Man his welds are so perfect, its hard to believe a human made that thing. I'll have install pics of that.

Once I start my new job I need to get some injectors and get rid of that shitty FMU, but hey, for now its more than functional.

Re:She's back... finally.

It just bridges the line in between the turbo and the wastegate actuator - nothing special. But the MBC came with a bracket so I just mounted it nicely so its easy to access.

Nice, very clean HMT setup. So that Tranny's working out alright for you?

O, what I meant was where did you get the MBC, it looks HMT style scavenged.

nice sexy and black 8)

Re:She's back... finally.

Yeah man works great, can't thank you enough for getting it to me as promptly as you did. The clutch isn't anything special, basically a stock replacement but its capable of handling the extra torque from the turb.

Here's a closeup of the MBC for you Stan. I forget who I bought it from but it was from someone on HMT.

I had to pay my jew bastard of a friend $75.00 to deliver that trans to you and it was only 45 minutes away from my house. :-\ I should have had him deliver it to your house for that price :(

Shawn 12-09-2004 11:45 AM

Re:She's back... finally.

Yeah can't forget, hotrex did a good job with that kit. And I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I'll vouch for him because suprisingly it was shipped rather quick. Two weeks at the very most if I remember correctly.

The downpipe will live on hotrex as I'm gonna throw that onto the new setup with the new IHI RHB5 and the new ramhorn manifold.

Re:She's back... finally.

$75.00? Damn man, you should have told me, I would have showed up late or something ;)

But yeah for that price he should have taken it up the turnpike more no doubt.

get rid of the FMU

sweet ride though. how does that spool? fast? have any top end?

Shawn 12-09-2004 12:14 PM

Re:She's back... finally.

Yeah the thing spools super quick even with some lag, its a good balance actually. I do a lot of driving, a lot of backroads and in town stuff so the instant response from the turbo is always nice. Top-end sucks, from like 5.5-6g through redline it feels like I stop accelerating but the car just keeps getting louder. So yeah, its definitely dead up there.

Early spool is nice because the turbo ------- roars even when im just going through a parking lot. This thing turns a LOT of heads, lots of ricers can't believe I know what a turbo is nor how to install one. Man if I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me "hey man do you think you could turbo my car too?"

Oh well, it's a daily driver so I can't beat the ---- out of it. I mean I tried that already and look what happens, new clutch/tranny...

Yeah these pics were over the summer. I've since then put on new pads and all that, thanks for looking out for me though.

I'll talk to teg, I definitely need some new management sooner or later.

Hey Stealthy, how about you hook me up with those CorrectInject injectors on the site bro? hah

hotrex 12-09-2004 12:24 PM

Very nice clean looking Sol. I don't like them that much but that one looks pretty good. Nice set-up too, it would be even better with a slightly bigger snail and better managment.

Shawn 12-09-2004 01:34 PM

Re:She's back... finally.

91dxcrx I can give you the mani/adapter plate/turbo and possibly a downpipe elbow once the new set up is on. PM me for details.

Yeah Whitey if you can chip the ECU and all that I'd imagine I'll be making a trip out sooner or later.
