There is software for ODB2 volkswagens to tune them.
there is the neuspeed supercharger & a ton of different turbo kits, vr6 swap, there's a shitload to do to them, the transmission is the weak point.

a ton of people have turboed the 2.0 and there's a bunch of differnet ways to do it. vw's arn't fun to drive though and I ended up selling mine.

If you get a Golf, get a TDI. Do a Cat swap, and ---- the mother ****** is already turbod Great ------ gas mileage and hell, maybe find somewhere that sells biodiesel i have some friends with TDI jettas that are pretty damn quick.

I knew a guy with a TDI Beetle. Bitch ran mid 14's. Not HOLY CRAP fast, but not bad for a daily driver. I have no clue what he had done to it.
My sister had a 2.0 Beetle, brother in law blew up the tranny in about 4 months of driving it.
oh and the 2.0 sucked *****
