Car theft statistics for 2008 are not yet available; in 2007, 7,087 cars were reported stolen in Pierce County.
Goddamn.

Stealing because you're poor is one thing, but stealing because you're poor and need drugs is shitty.

Huntsville:

Population: 163,052
Car Thefts: 874

Dunno what the population is in that area but that sounds like a shitton of theft.

Even then, people desperate enough to steal cars are smoking something other than cannabis.

I've never promoted/condoned coke/meth/heroine use. I'm 99.99999% sure they weren't stealing cars for marijuana.

That is a very valid point though, it's different when you're buying with legitimately earned money.

They were stealing cars so they could afford personal trainers to become Olympic athletes. I see it every day, disgusting.

Jesus christ! (apologies)

I think people steal for the same reason here (drugs) but it seems to be any POS they can steal and not directed at Hondas...

That's shitty.

That’s not a problem. Oxy is ok just not big bad pot cause its drugs like heroin right Frank?

Oxy is cool though, just don’t smoke pot or you will be a druggie. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

No offense frank but your mentality is exactly why I usually don’t like most "military" individuals. They are brainwashed and cant think for themselves, all they can do is regurgitate rhetoric that’s been pounded in their heads without any shred of logic or common sense in it. That’s not too bad in it self but since they are military the "I'm superior" mind set kicks in and they are completely unwilling not only to harbor any other opinion than their own but anyone who thinks otherwise is obviously an idiot.

Sorry to threadjack but i wanted to harp on that one more time. I feel better know.

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Theft ring busted

Frank may be somewhat rigid in his views on certain activities, but he's kicked us the respect of letting us voice our views. I think the way this thread is going it's kinda turning into a dogpile on Frank, which isn't warranted. Sure he made a sarcastic comment about drug use, but he's not targeting us as individuals, so there's no call to target him in turn. Plenty of people outside the military hold similar views just as deeply.

Hell, I agree with Frank on most of his criticisms (it's a useless drug consumed primarily by useless people). My deviation from his reasoning is that as a private act that harms no one it should not be treated as a legal or moral crime, and I believe that enough to completely offset my distaste for pot and for stoners. Nobody's hopping on me about it although I'm basically Frank with a larger libertarian streak.

It is that criticism that has everyone in this thread giving him ----. Just because MOST of the smokers that YOU KNOW are useless DOES NOT make it universally true. It is that widely regarded opinion that gives the gov't the ability to hand out unfair and unwarranted sentences for marijuana related crimes to begin with.

No, the validity of that observation has nothing to do with the government having the moral right or legal ability to censure a consensual activity. The root cause of that is people are stupid and short sighted, spiteful and uncaring, and most of all ignorant.

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Theft ring busted

yeah for a second I thought about not hitting that post button cause i didnt want it to be a ---- storm on him, hell i dont even know the guy but my point isnt is it good or bad its about factual representation. You said it best "My deviation from his reasoning is that as a private act that harms no one it should not be treated as a legal or moral crime" and that is what im talking about. personal reservations aside you understand its not a harmful drug and shouldnt be classified as "drugs" like Heroine or treated in the same regard. i think "change" (however you want to apply it) is hindered when folks cant take a look at something and go "Perhaps we were wrong..." or see if from any other angle, I just dont get that.

Jorsher 02-23-2009 04:01 PM

Re: Seattle/Tacoma Theft ring busted

Always liked that quote.

I'm not trying to dogpile him. I put my point in and left it at that. Just pointing out a very big difference between stealing for drugs and smoking pot. I've never known anyone, or heard of anyone, stealing to buy marijuana. It's not that serious.

drugs should be decriminalized, all of them, every last ------- one. Not legalized yet, but decriminalized for sure.
