seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

sean from 3geez.com got his turbo car up and running.

i wont bother to explain the setip since its in the thread. :)

i am suprised, that seems quick for only 6psi with 8psi spikes

yeah well i dont know that for sure. he is trying to make it to the track, but i guess he melted his stock clutch, and by the time he got it installed the track was closed. :( anyway he will do a track run soon im sure, but i think the 14.1 side of it is believable. which sure gives me hope for my car ! :)

that motor is a turd .. non intercooled hurts also. i wouls say mid 14s with traction

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

well actually with cast iron head it can handle boost well, and a healthy 8.8:1 CR stock doesnt hurt either.

im guessing its better than a d series for boost
:D :P

as for the non intercooled thing, running that ammount of boost, with the awesome engine management he has is totally safe... but he plans on pushing it with water injection not air air IC

13.60 is a little fast for an accord that at best runs high 17's stock. I would say high 14's.

i like the underdawg, i got nothing but love for somebody putting turbo work into any car because thats dedication and yea his fuel set up makes a big differnce for power gains, let tuning be a lesson r3al 1mp0r4 tuneaz know wazup, ill say he breaks into the high 13's

Damn if nobody else is going to say it I will. That ---- aint running 13's!! I have a 93 accord that was at 10psi non intercooled and I ran 13.7. He's only at 8. More respect to him if he does it but I'm just not seeing it.

LSD Motorsports 08-27-2003 12:12 AM

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

93 accord... 87 accord 300lb+ difference... am i wrong? 10psi unintercooled is a lot more useless hot air... 6psi can run efficiently unintercooled, also this fool can drive, ive seen him chirp 5th dude, jk, but im pullin 4 him

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

nope its more than that i believe. Most 3rd gens are 2500- 2650 ish, and most 4th gens are 3100-3200 lbs i think... correct me if im wrong, so its more like a 400+ pound weight difference... thats huge.

LSD Motorsports 08-31-2003 12:04 AM

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

yea it sure is, talking bout half a sec off e/t i didnt have any idea about actual weight and i wanted to guess 400 from my general knowledge about growing weights over the years, but i just said 300 to be safe. I had some turbo problems of my own today.. fucken turbo might have went to ----, ill have to check tomorrow

at 6-8 pounds i dont belive he will even come close to a 13sec pass....i say high 14's

Is it just me or is his intake in the dumbest place possible. got heatsoak?

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

turns out he was running closer to 10psi after getting his boost gauge working properly.

10psi non intercooled non BOV'ed on 87 i believe. his engnine management is working wonders!

not that it counts, but he pulled 13.1 on gtech

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

I've run 9 psi non-IC, same turbo as Sean.

I don't advise it for daily driving, but a sprint or two down the road with the fuel extra rich for safety hurts nothing.

I'd guess Sean is high 13's. Hopefully we'll have a PGMFI shootout soon with my CRX lining up against his Accord.

As far as the A20A engine's honor goes... isn't the fastesr/one of the fastest NA Hondas out there an A20A powered 2G CRX? That indicates a certain potential in head flow and bottom end build, don't hate it just because it's old.

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

i am not sure abuot that; though it would not suprise me... i have heard of some 11 or 12 second preludes still using carbed a20a's :)

its a great little engine, and certainly a tough one!

sean keeps retuning his chip, and getting better and better results. :) its still running really rich so i think he has some more power to squeeze out yet!

i cant wait to get this system going on my car.. one of these days it will happen

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

ok he dynoed his setup.

a20a1 engine with 9.2:1 CR

105whp / 215lbs @ 2800 rpm - 10psi (with .42/.48AR chrysler t3 turbo)

it makes mad power at 3400 (secret until he tunes it and gets the most out of it) and is flat until 5600, where it drops off. our cars have 6250 redline, so a new manifold design or slightly bigger turbo should give us our power up until redline. :)

105 horsepower? ???

accordepicenter 09-08-2003 12:56 AM

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

He was trying to tune it on the dyno and didnt take it past 3k i believe, but damn, look at all that freaking torque... I mean 215lb ft at the wheels at 2800

turboboy 09-08-2003 01:12 AM

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

i get it now...i didnt even look at the rpm

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

oooooooooooooooooooo ok i see how he managed to get that kind of performance on the dyno..... they gave him the wrong slip.

13:6 ooooooooooooooooooook surrrrrrrrrrrrrrre. ::)

bobafett 09-08-2003 10:50 PM

Re:seans turbo 86 accord: 13.6-14.1 ET

13.6 was only his estimate. after racing a guy who claimed 13.6 timeslips...

either way the car is gonna be quick. i would bet closer to deep 14's but he hasnt taken it out while the car is running better/ we'll see soon hopefully :)
