So you didn't see any of the pictures of the car with the engine out (most shops chare $800 or so labor for a spimple engine R&R), and the interior stripped so that he could repaint EVERYTHING? Do you know what is entailed in correctly painting an engine bay?? You have to strip everything off down to brake lines and since a firewall typically isn't smooth like a body panel there is a huge amount of fine work... the only decent engine bay respray I have ever seen the guy spent 40 hours on the bay alone. Add in the cost of the carbon fiber, the fact the guy laid it himself into custom enclosures, and markup (profit) on materials. I sincerely believe that $16K was a fair price.

According to the shop they didn't ask for more money due to spin talk AND the kid bringing in this unending flood of high end turbo kit, audio gear, etc, which made them think he was covered up in money and it'd be no big deal to get paid. Yeah, it's a fucked up situation, but I've been in that boat before and understand why the shop played it like they did.

The ironic thing is it sounds like most of those high end parts probably were sourced through other scams from all the publicity people were posting about how many people got scammed by this kid. I hate ***** like that, they seem like they're made of teflon and nothing sticks when they scam people. Looks like it finally chipped off

Sorry, but I side with buk. He took a risk at not making him pay a down payment or payments as he went. The risk blew up in his face so tough ****, now it's his problem, I don't feel sorry for him. Learn better business practices or learn to take it up the ***. At least he still has the car to sell.

Well, personally I think it's just a shame that it takes something like this for the industry and the people who are into this kind of stuff(fixing up cars, particularly imports), to get some publicity. Now everyone who isn't into our scene is gonna think we're all scammin' *** bottom feeders who can't work and pay for our ----. I too think that the shop owner was a ------' idiot for not seeing SOME money up front for the work he was doing. Yeah, the guy was bringing in nice ----, but that would've made me wanna see that the guy had some $$ for the work UP FRONT. Typical FL bullshit. All those **** up north decided to retire down there and bring all their homo, flake *** kids along too.

I live in the Tampa area and can make ---- happen if the money is right.Last time i got almost got scammed i almost hit a dude with a bat but he paid me for what was owed.I drove 2 hours to kick his *** and he almost ---- his pants when i introduced myself.
