Is this a scam?

I bid on a turbo on Ebay, didn't win it but than I got this letter though ebay:

You expressed interest in an item titled - TURBONETICS T-88 CERAMIC BALLBEARING TURBO by bidding, however the auction has ended with another eBay member as the high bidder.
In compliance with eBay's Policy, the seller of that item is making this Offer to you at your bid price.
The seller has issued this Offer because either the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction or the seller has duplicate items for sale. If you accept this offer, you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and you will be eligible for eBay Services associated with a transaction, such as Fraud Protection. To purchase this item, do not reply to this mail, just contact the seller at:

To me this really sounds like a scam, I emailed the guy to see whats up. The guy has some damn good feedback but this just doesn't seem right. :-\ If he says I can buy the turbo at the price I gave I'm probably going to contact ebay to see if its a scam but has any of the ebay veterans ever got anything like this before?

Re: Is this a scam?

i dont think its a scam, its just the second chance offer. I had to use that when someone bid on a marshall head they didint pay for. If its real you should have the option to buy it now or not.

Re: Is this a scam?

how long after the auction closed did u get it?

if u got it right after the auction it means the seller used shill bidding to jack up the price.

look at bid history, check out the number 1 bidder find out why he backed out, i had a fucker screw me over like that jaacked up the price with shill bidding

Re: Is this a scam?

Wow, this almost sounds legit. :S

I'm going to wait for the guy's e-mail to see if he is going to sell me that turbo at my bid price and if he says yes than I'll do some Nancy Drew ----. Also, there were like 3 other people who bid higher than I did so thats what sent up the red flag that this might be a scam. This guy lives in NY so if he says I can buy it than I'll personally drive up there and pick it up and probably have sex with it a bunch of times on the drive home. :l

I really hate when this ---- happens, I mean its like my dream turbo at an awesome price so tomorrow its going to be the only thing I think about, I'm going to get myself all fired up thinking about it than I'll find out that of course its too good to be true. :-\

if it's a second chance offer you will get an email with a link to buy it now.

From what you posted, sounds like a scam.
