Default SBC turbo C/10 in videos...(cadracer-Ted?)

I was interested in the setup of that truck that I believe belongs to cadracer (Ted?). I did a search and found some info, but all the pics are down. My buddy has a TBI 89 Chevy 1/2 ton w/ a 350 swap and he is interested in doing some sort of HMT on that bitch, and wants to know how the manifols were ran. We looked on moates.net for some tuning ----, and it seems that the TBI has some support to it, so it would be possible, just going to have to crunch some numbers to see if injectors are going to have to be upgraded, or if he is going to swap in a carb (thats what he wants to do, says it would probably be easier). He was interested in on what internals (stock correct?), how the carb was setup, how it was tuned, what was exatctly used for management (FMU & BTM?), etc. Like I said, I found some info by searching, but all the pics are down (the thread was from '04). If anyone has more info on this truck, preferably some good pics, we would appreciate it. More videos would be cool too...

You could probably do it with the TBI but it won't be easy. I believe that most of the OBD1 GM guys are running the Sy/Ty ECM on boosted applications. The 749 isn't exactly easy to come by and they are set up for MPFI. Might have to run an FMU(yuck) with the stock ECM and tune the bin accordingly.

A very good editor is TunerPro RT. I haven't gotten to play with it too much though. The ALDL interface for datalogging is pretty easy to build, but it is pretty hard to beat Craig Moates unit for the price.

Do it do it do it post pics and videos.

Ted is boosting on a carbed motor...not TPI.

I'm sure you can find pics with some searching.

Goddammit **** don't you know the difference between TPI and TBI? :P

I'm kinda curious too. Is he running a carb hat or a carb in a box?

Wow been awhile since i have had some interest in the old beast. Well the ole 350 "RIP" was not stock internally.
11-1 forged pop pistons
Gm hd x rods shot pinned an some polish on the beams
arp rod bolts
BBC oil pump with high pressure spring 80psi cold on 5-30w oil needs heat before you beat...lol
solid flat tappet cam 515 lift 290 duration
1.6 comp cam roller tip rockers
world product s/r torque heads with 2.02 intake an 1.6 exhaust
Manely race flow valves undercut stems
comp cams .600 lift spring package
hardened push rods
block hugger headers (e-bay)
2.5in mandrel u bends cut an plummed to homemade turbo mount an flange
2200 stall converter
True roller timing chain with lock plate
RPM preformer air gap intake
mahle race bearing rods an mains .10/.10
Melling high volume oil pump
650 double pumper modified per hangar 18 info with my addition to .70 pvr orfice instead of there .48
lightweight fuel pump push rod
hd fuel pump boost referenced
gm HEI dist withi module deleted an pick up hard wired to btm
btm msd box with 8k rev chip
mitsubishi evolution intercooler
Mitsubishi 3000 gt vr4 blow off valve
t4 turbo .70 cold .80 hot
tial 35 gate
3in mandrel fender well exhaust out under floor board to 4 in madrel bend dumping out in front of rear tire
manual boost controller mounted on dash for easy of adjustment
Carb had Patent pending me =) chevy van/or truck 3 in riser welded to cleaner an top weled on
Snorkel chop an flared at exhaust shop to accept 3in pipe
Home depot black abs pipe all glued together with the abs glue (15psi)an no leaks to this day
base timing 15 degrees/total advance 34degress boost retard set at 2.3 per pound of boost
daily driven on 6psi ran great no problems

Thats the build sheet for the 350,Damn it had a few goodies in it,maybe thats why it held together for 9 months of torture..13 psi on reg gas was a lil too much 3 pistons melted ring lands but it still ran Got to love the chevy

Now the 305 roller was put together with 20 psi in mind
This would have already happened but the engine was pulled back out due lack of oil pressure.
Crank was suppose to be .10/.10 but the messed up an the main bearings where cut to .14 How i dont know
So its now back on the egine stand this morning awaiting the crank, It is now .20m an .10rods
But the new boat took priority /had to build a new engine for it so it got back burnered.

If it was me i would go withthe tbi setup an seal up the injector wiring so as no boost leak.Run a fmu an mabe put a tpi pump in the tank cuz it runs off of 40 psi where the tbi i beleive is 12 to 18 psi.The injectors will flow enogh with a higher fuel pressure. If your worried order up a set of injectors for a 454 tbi in a 92 suburban they will flow enough i gaurentee that.
As for timing control its a map system so you just need to go an get the burner software an modify the memcal chip an your in full control of fuel an spark. Already has a knock sensor so it will retard timing if it hears any.

If theres any other info you may need let me know.Stock pistons an rods can handle 6to 8 psi no problem.
They sbc 283 i first boost i ran 15 psi on it with a t3 turbo it was ok once i got it to spool an the compression was a lil low 7.1
9.1 you will like it with boost.
10.5 you will love trust me on that one
