Salvage title and vechile value
Hi i have been shopping for a car for my sis and I wanted to know some things about a salvage title. Well heres the scoop i found a 98 audi a4, with the 2.8 tiptonic and awd. It's got 96k miles and looks to be in great running condition. Book on this car would be around 8-9k as it is an audi. The car has a salvage title and the guy wants 5K for it. He says it was stolen recovery. I have looked around and if there was any body damage it has been fixed. I will have my buddy do a carfax on it just incase when i get a hold of him later.
So the quistion is simply if a car was rebuilt from salvage, what % of price is it worth than the same car with a clean title? I know resell value is going to be ---- but we would probably keep the car for a long ass time so its not a big concern |
Re: Salvage title and vechile value
id say go for it but be careful. looks can be decieving. id do one hell of a checkup on the car.

Re: Salvage title and vechile value
Usually I go about half of the blue book value. Sometimes cars with salvage titles are hard to sell. As for me, they don't bother me as long as they were fixed right and not rigged.

Re: Salvage title and vechile value
it depends on what car,a honda with salvage that is in the 3-4k range might only knock off 500 off the price, but a ss camaro with salvage would knock off 4k off the price

Re: Salvage title and vechile value
I'd say atleast 1/2 if it was a theft rcovery then you are probably safe but do the research, but you could run in probelms later...its the risk you take...just a side note but i believe if the car title transfers from one state to another it no longer has a salvage title
