Saiga .308 for $525?

I have a chance to buy a .308 saiga for $525, comes with two rails, one installed, one not installed, and a red dot sight, each rail retails at $50 and at $70, and the red dot retails at $75. This gun has 200 rounds fired through it and I would be converting it to AK style. Should i get a .308? And would I need it when the huge earthquake hits the bay area and turns this place into katrina #2?

1 shot 1 kill, kinetic energy and ballistics FTW. On a side note .223's are for killing squirrels :-*

you gonna shoot it a lot? basically all i would be interested in finding out is what aftermarket support is there. does everything for the 5.56 work? and how much more .308 is, you can prolly get bulk surplus .308 (short .308 right?) but its probably a lot easier to get 5.56 army surplus in bulk.

thats kinda a lot for a .308, i paid $220 for 7.62, i cant see double for the .308

oh and that red dot is a pretty nice unit, i have used one before and it is very similiar to a holosight, which is like $800

plus that isnt even the long barrel version, i dont think the velocity out of that is any different from the 7.62, i would try to find a 7.62 with the short barrel and convert that.

Yeah, I'd much prefer the longer barrel, $400 for a x39 is about standard going rate in CA. Guns here are insanely overpriced. I'd really like to pickup a m1a, I feel that I need something in the .308 caliber.
