Default S-AFC II smell..

Well.. I got my Brand New S-AFC II straight from Japan this weekend and proceeded to install it. After I figured out the wiring diagram, which I wired backwards the first time.. I rewired it correctly and everything's working perfect now(no damage to anything). Only thing is every once in awhile I can smell an electronic burning or shorting type smell from the S-AFC II, but it works fine and perfect. Is this normal for the S-AFC II or even the S/V-AFC when they're new? I know most small electronic devices have some type of "break-in" smell when they're used the first couple of times, but this doesn't smell the same. The S-AFC II and my ECU are working perfect.

LOL, I only like to eat Vanilla, not smell it.. it's a scent only a fruitcake or a girl would use hehehe

there's no smoke from the SAFC II, but it does get alittle warm just like my car stereo... but I think that's normal?

Ya, I'm sure its normal.. If it doesnt go away in a few weeks I might get concerned, but if it continues to bother you.. You can be real "ELITE" and go with NEW CAR SCENT and hide that ----

As stated in the manual, it says its not unusual for this unit to heat up, and as we all know that heated electronics produce a certain smell. But thats normal , as long as it doesnt smell like burnt popcorn i would worry to much about it, just keep it away from the sun
