Re:rwd. honda

You don't consider the mid-engine/RWD NSX a coupe? :D

Re:rwd. honda

oh yeah i forgot about those but i think they could look alot better though ???

Re:rwd. honda

what about the Beat? it was rwd, and turbo..

Re:rwd. honda

you can still drift a fwd car, look at my avatar... my car drifts fine with spares on the back... not as cool as rwd, but it works...
I don't know why they didn't make rwd either, maybe, cost, complexity, power loss on econo engines can't be taken...

Re:rwd. honda

they made the honda s800 back in the 70's or 80's. RWD coupe. other then that.. s2000 ?

Re:rwd. honda

simple matter of cost and efficieny
wasnt necessary for these econo... non sports cars... so why would they

Re:rwd. honda

You know what, I actually read an article quite a while ago where a guy was building his EF with a tube chassis and a mid-engine and rear wheel drive all powered by B-series.

It was pretty cool and made me piss on tower record's floor. And sorry fellerz I don't have the mag, me too cheap to buy them I just read em. :P Half the stuff in there I don't wanna look at any way. APC this APC sponsered Saturn, APC Sperm plated exhaust and header'S'.

i think the new preludes would be awesome cars with RWD, especially RWD + v6

Re:rwd. honda

somebody told me about a guy that used the CRV tranny and rear axle/driveshaft and made an integra into AWD. never seen any pics but would still be pretty interesting

GimpyCivic 12-11-2003 05:34 PM

Re:rwd. honda

Isnt the CRV only like 80/20 split on FW/RW?? I hope he made it suck much less ass.

J-MAN 12-11-2003 05:38 PM

Re:rwd. honda

would it even be possible???

turboDXcoupe 12-11-2003 06:13 PM

Re:rwd. honda

theres a crx tht is all wheel drive but it looks like junk

LSD Motorsports 12-11-2003 06:19 PM

Re:rwd. honda

no it doesnt look to bad man, and it has been done.. b20 turbo in a crx and yes it can be done... yes all 4wd have power distributed differently to front and rear, i dont think a 50/50 combo exists

ummm.......yaaaa........ thats called ass dragging. drifting requires power to the rear wheels.

GimpyCivic 12-11-2003 07:12 PM

Re:rwd. honda

right, but the CRV can barely call itself 4WD.

big diff between 4wd/awd in my book in how they're thought out.

Re:rwd. honda

The rotation on the engine is incorrect to facilitate a RWD b16 or b18. As long as Honda had the engine setup the way they had from the early eighties till now (except for the k series) it will be interesting if they came out with a RWD RSX but I doubt they will. Honda is really built on 4 cylinders and FWD. Even now their civics and integras are FWD. I don’t think Honda will change that. You’ll just have to modify the car or buy a NSX or S2k. Though I wonder if you can convert a RSX into a RWD monster. The steering is set up for it and all... interesting..

well the drift scene here likes me just fine, it's all just as a joke anyway. I go road racing, and when I get tired, I go drift (drag) with them. BTW, I don't use an e-brake, so it's not really drag'n, I just enter at turn at around 50 and the back end swings wide the whole turn, way more controlled than an e-brake drag....

also, the S800 was just a bigger model of the S500 and then the S600. And yeah they were rwd, but they were also chain driven, based of what Honda knew from building motorcycles, not a very useable system.

RWD?
John Kaufman, the guy that built my first engine( ::) ) was the first, as far as anybody knows, to successfully stick a built NSX motor in the trunk of a CRX (mid engine/rear drive). I saw an early video of it run the 1/4 mile and the thing ran high 10s w/o the two bottles of NOS turned on and the driver botched 2nd gear. :o

yeah yeah, we all know about the crx with mid-engine, what we are referring to is the lack of FR configuration besides the s2000
