Re:RSX Type S vs Jetta 1.8T

whats the reason for asking? wheres the race, at the track? my cars got the same motor as the 1.8 and its a highway monster. that seems kinda high hp on the jetta? ill go drive around and find a rsx to race and let u know how it goes. ;)

added - heres some specs on my 2001 a4... the older 1.8's have slightly less power, and the newer ones have more

The 1.8T model comes with a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates 170 horsepower. The engine emits a distant purr that, like the gearbox, conveys a feeling of highly engineered, precision machinery. It revs so freely that it isn't difficult to rev it past the redline and into the rev limiter. The low-pressure turbocharger has a linear power delivery that produces quick acceleration. It develops 166 foot-pounds of torque at just 1950 rpm and that power carries all the way through 5000 rpm, so there isn't any appreciable turbo lag. (Torque is that force that launches you away from intersections and propels you up steep hills.) The 1.8-liter turbo is a great engine, and an excellent choice for enthusiasts who will team it up with the five-speed manual gearbox. It's also an excellent choice for anyone who wants a top-quality, safe sedan that offers a lot of value. The 1.8-liter engine gets about 6 mpg better combined fuel economy than the 2.8-liter V6.

1/8 mile, yes
1/4 mile, even
1 mile, no because the boost would then own the type S

are the cars stock? are the drives any good at driving? who has the money to own and race a Type S or a Jetta 1.8T?

I once saw a Type S 88 hatchback ;D ::) the owner said he turned it into an S by buying the decal at pep boys ::)

Hmm, you obvisouly dont know what your talking about, nor have drove both of the cars. I have and with the way overweight jetta sitting at 3155lbs and the Type S at 2770lbs plus with a 20hp gain and with Ivtec that loves RPMs? I bet at 1 mile the type s has about 5 car lengths on the jetta.

Last week I drove the R32 GTI and was also very unimpressed. Thats suppose to be their hot ---- Tuned VR6, I wouldnt be suprised if my girlfriends Type S would beat it. Another overweight/overpriced piece of ---- german car on the road.
