Here is an image of a dyno chart I did for my CRX

The inductive pickup can probably just be cut off an old timing light, or buy a cheap new one. I bought the kit that included the pickup.

Is that the same kit? How would you rate it? Effective?

that's a good looking dyno run.

Re:Home Dyno.. Only $40?!

This system worked for me well on the first try. It is a little different than the Home Dyno, but the same guy makes and sells both. The home dyno uses a video camera and makes a wav file of the ignition pulses. The Road Dyno version is a little box that does the recording for you, you just plug it in, turn it on, flip the switch and step on the gas. When you get to max rpm, flip the switch back. You can do a whole bunch of runs before you have to upload the info the the laptop.

I would rate it as an easy to use, and the software is pretty friendly, yet a little simplistic.

The only problem I have with it is that you need an open stretch of road that you can do a full throttle acceleration through a gear from 1500 rpm all the way to redline. 1st gear is bad because wheelspin will occur, so 2nd works good for me. So a straight level road that is about a half mile long at least, where you can roll at 5 mph and then accelerate to over 60 mph. So, legally speaking, the track is the only place you can run the thing properly, probably during a test and tune.

Here is a pic of the unit:

If you have to do dyno runs in only one gear, then how do you do it on an automatic?

Re:Home Dyno.. Only $40?!

People drive automatics.. for fun?! ;D Just kidding..

OK, people, I've ordered my "Road Dyno", since it's a complete set. Seems more logical than the "Home(Ghetto ;)) Dyno". Hehe.. Should be here in a week.
