Revitalizing an old CRX
Had the choice between getting a new 04 GLI Jetta or rebuilding an old CRX and now i've been having my 88 HF CRX for about 2 months now as a daily driver. I bought it with a d16a1 /w matching tranny for about 900 bucks. After about a month i have already changed out both lower ball joints, replace mounts with filled ones, rotors/pads, front brake lines,4 tires (falken ziex-512) and cleaned the ---- out of the interior (took days) with the little time i have (working 40hours).
Since i want the entire car to feel like a new car i am going to dynamat the entire car (i mean entire) and redo the entire suspension over by -Replacing all the rubber bushings with polyurethane counterparts -Replacing the strut assemblies with new pillow ball adjustable style -Upgrade to DA front rotor/hubs and replace the Brake Booster/Master Cylinder assembly with the larger prelude setup My question to you guys is what suspension combination do you guys recommend for a comfortable (like stock) ride but an upgrade from a performance viewpoint (i drive very aggresively)? Also i heard from a buddy at work that dynamat can be substituted with a much cheaper alternative (12.47 Vs. 59.95 for 15sq ft) called peel and seal http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...page=none&bc=c Anyone else heard of this? Turbo to be put in soon, but i preffer to improve my cars overall feel. For now we can all stare at Vida Guerra's sweet ass http://www.desktopexchange.com/galle...a_pictures.jpg |
Re: Revitalizing an old CRX
now that's a nice ass, and a nice way to finish a post with a question in it.
im not sure if it would fit, but maybe you could try DA suspension. i've heard of people with EG/EK's putting in DC2 suspension in, for that stock height and comfort with a little more sport too it definately good that ur upgrading the master cylinder. i know a guy with EF hatch with just the front brakes/rotors with stock mc.. he has to downshift more than he steps on the brake pedal to stop, and about twice as early as my grandma brakes |
