reunited with the CRX

A few years ago I handed over my 88 CRX HF because I bought my 96 coupe and no longer needed it.. so a few years later my sister is getting her stuff together and needs a bigger vehicle. I've got the stock d16y8 with a rebuild kit that I removed from the 96 coupe in favor on a B-series just waiting for a good EF chassis..

Here's my question; If I put vitara pistons on the stock D16y8 rods with ARP rod bolts, about how much power are they capable of holding provided everything else is right, including arp head studs?

The B-series in my coupe is fully built for boost aside from sleeves, and it only has 7k miles on it.. the turbo setup i put together is just sitting in my garage because i'm afraid it will leave me stranded. The fact that I have everything to build a single cam 1800lbs street ripper has me pretty stoked, and just the thought of driving a 60hp 88 HF around town so I can boost the 96 coupe just sounds like a ass backwards idea to me.. Any input/advice?

I wouldn't even open a D series unless I was putting rods and pistons in it. Putting pistons alone would have me feeling no better about the strength of it.

this is a clear and obvious answer. God loves CRX's so you drop the D16 in the coupe and Daily it up in that. Meanwhile swap teh B into the Rex and desimate all.

D rods are super limp ditch them for TT rods or FJT ones.Long live the CRX :y

I don't want to buy all the custom ---- to put the B-series in the CRX.. plus the coupe drives really nice as a DD with the b16.

The CRX is most likely getting the D16y8 with some rods and vitaras.. Can I just use the STD ACL bearings if I haven't removed the crankshaft ever and the rods are new?

but didnt you say the B16 was built and ready for boost? seems to me you can look at it like wasting the money to build the B16 on not boosting it or drop a little more and get a chance to use what you paid to build the block for.

besides how much does it cost to get a B in a CRX? are we talking like 500 or like 1500?

Just the price of mounts, a b16 cable tranny, and a modded shift linkage. Ecu and obd1 harness. Nothing major $$

well, the b16 only has 7k miles on it, so it's not a waste of money by any means..
it's good for boost until 180k miles, by that time the rings start to get worn on hondas from what i've seen..

and I have everything I need to put the Y8 in the CRX so why spend more money than I need?

If the B16 was stock then IU would say ---- it Boost that D but since you ahve already spent money to build the B why go out and buy rods and pistons and all that all over again. I would hate to build ---- twice and hate to not use ---- ive already built
