Lieberman loses, vows independent run By ROBERT TANNER, AP National Writer
2 minutes ago

Three-term Sen. Joe Lieberman fell to anti-war challenger Ned Lamont in Connecticut's Democratic primary Tuesday, a race seen as a harbinger of sentiment over the conflict that has claimed the lives of more than 2,500 U.S. troops in Iraq.

Unbowed, Lieberman immediately announced he would enter the fall campaign as an independent. Only six years ago, Lieberman was the Democrats' choice for vice president.

I like how the democrates just got rid of one of their only popular candidates.

This is why the Republicans can just take it easy in office and not worry about ----.

Where's the news? The democratic party has fallen to the far left wing wackos and they're showing that unless you go completely wacky socialist they aren't going to vote for you. The party is alienating they're best people. Joe Lieberman doesn't vote the way I would, but he's one of the last democrats that you can respect because you know he actually believes in what he votes for, vs. voting to pander for votes. I hope the democrats keep doing what they're doing.

All Gore won't even endorse Lieberman even though he chose him as a running mate just a few years ago. Hillary said voting along party lines is more important than standing by the character of old friends (endorsing Leiberman). The exact problem with the political scene today is that everybody votes with their party even if they vote against common sense or how they feel. Gezus, just vote for what you believe.

I think Lieberman did did a pretty admirable thing my sticking to his beliefs despite his party taking a ---- on head and disowning him. It just proves that far left wackos are hijacking the Democratic Party.

He will still win. 40% of the voting population in CT is registered as INDEPENDENT. Most conservatives will vote for him because a republican will never get elected in CT so Joe is the lesser of 2 evils.
