Replacement Honda Key

How do I go about getting a replacement key for my civic?

My car was in an accident a couple months ago, and the law suit is taking a while, so I'd like to put my car in storage for the time being. In the process I have lost my keys for this car. Is it possible to get them recut by honda without getting new locks?

It takes about 5 minutes to take the steering column apart and remove the lock cylinder. :l

Well I have been tossing around the idea of maybe rebuilding the car and flipping it if the lawsuit goes over well, so I would prefer not to ---- with the lock cylinders unless I need to. I heard that you can give honda some lock code and they can reproduce your key but I haven't been able to find much info about it

It would take a pretty dumb person to ---- that job up. :l In the time it took you to make this post you could have already had the fucker apart and moved.

Well no, I kno that I could do that no problem, but then it does nothing to help the problem when/if I sell the car.

GO TO THE HONDA DEALER WITH PROOF OF OWNERSHIP AND THEY CAN CUT A KEY OFF THE VIN...

i work at a dealer, we do it all the time. go in with your title/registration and drivers license that matches proving its your car and they can cut you a key. we charge $7.98 for the key, cutting, and getting the code for the key...

this is all assuming that the ignition has not been changed since Honda built it...

Temporarily, but to get the car back with a good body and such would proabably only cost between 2 and 3 grand. In my area, hondas in decent shape sell for way more than they are worth

Dealership ftw

When I bought my Civic it only came with the valet key. I brough the title to the dealership and it only cost a few bucks to get a regular key made.
