Replacement Honda Key
How do I go about getting a replacement key for my civic?
My car was in an accident a couple months ago, and the law suit is taking a while, so I'd like to put my car in storage for the time being. In the process I have lost my keys for this car. Is it possible to get them recut by honda without getting new locks? Wreck Thread: https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...?topic=75164.0 |

Re: Replacement Honda Key
It takes about 5 minutes to take the steering column apart and remove the lock cylinder. :l

Re: Replacement Honda Key
Well I have been tossing around the idea of maybe rebuilding the car and flipping it if the lawsuit goes over well, so I would prefer not to ---- with the lock cylinders unless I need to. I heard that you can give honda some lock code and they can reproduce your key but I haven't been able to find much info about it

Well no, I kno that I could do that no problem, but then it does nothing to help the problem when/if I sell the car.

Re: Replacement Honda Key
GO TO THE HONDA DEALER WITH PROOF OF OWNERSHIP AND THEY CAN CUT A KEY OFF THE VIN...
i work at a dealer, we do it all the time. go in with your title/registration and drivers license that matches proving its your car and they can cut you a key. we charge $7.98 for the key, cutting, and getting the code for the key... this is all assuming that the ignition has not been changed since Honda built it... |

Oh, I thought you were putting the car in storage. |
Re: Replacement Honda Key
Dealership ftw
When I bought my Civic it only came with the valet key. I brough the title to the dealership and it only cost a few bucks to get a regular key made. |
