Re:really rice?

i like the definition. I think its stated well, and means well.

my defenition of a ricer, someone who buys a honda because everyone else does. then wants to get the "B22 Si motor, and a 5 stage clutch, and twin nitrus set-up" yep heard it before.

I think rice is pure opinion as sinister said. someone may not be rice if they have a front bumper, lips, CF hood, nice paint, etc....

is www.teamrice.org rice. I dont think so. some cars have body kits, nice paint, wheels, etc,(some classify as rice) but these guys mod there ---- with practicle mods, and they have nice clean cars. i love the cars...

Re:really rice?

True "Rice" is a state of mind or an attitude. You can add a huge wing expensive body kit and NO engine mods and still not be rice. You become rice when you act and talk as if your car is the fastest ---- in the world. When in reality you drive 1994 Honda Civic DX(106 HP) with no forced induction or any performance engine mods. With a bunch of fast looking parts.
IMO, if you have a car with all kinds of stickers/fart can/air intake etc and a big wing... you are RICE. I dont care wether you talk ---- or not, youre still rice, the car isnt any faster. Pointless mods like big wings are rice, the illusion of going fast, same with a fart can on a stock civic dx or a neon...

Re:really rice?

I'd make a car look nice, but rice is a line that can't be crossed. It's a line that all of us know where it is, it's just hard to explain "the line".

The line is always shifting too. Because dirt bag kids may take a nice product and start putting it on ford escorts. After a while the product isn't considered "nice" anymore. That's the problem is too many people have hoopty's with one expensive something on it and ruin it for the rest. So until that ---- stops, I'll just spend on the motor. ;)

im with you on this one stealth... no body kit for me

Re:really rice?

if your going over like 125. you need downforce on the rear wheels or your car will start to get squirly even if its front wheel drive. you can also get wings with less drag to keep the "parachute" effct down and a larger downforce coefficient. witch is usualy lower than how much drag you get from the car. even if your car is RWD you dont need a wing unless your going 100+ or taking realy quick turns. in witch case you would need somthing to make downforce on your car even if you did have a front wheel drive.

and this kindove pisses me off. because i drive extremly fast in my car all the time. and i dont like how when im going 110+ my car gets unstable and feels floaty on the rear end. but i cant add a wing because then ill be a ricer :-\
but
imo body kits are gay. your cars not an evo or a skyline or anything else and they look like ---- after 3 months when the new style comes out. if you have the cash for style and power i think youd just go buy an STI insted of a civic in the first place.

Re:really rice?

NOT RICE (good rice):
John buys (himself) a Civic SI because he's on a budget and wants a bit of a challenge (not because of the Fast & the Furious). He would have got a older 70's era car, but didn't want to deal with the maintenence, and gas prices. He wanted the ease of a newer car. He goes and gets an AEM CAI with a bypass valve (so no water gets in); he can't afford a turbo yet. He gets some 4-2-1 headers and a full catback system exhaust. He lowers his car with shocks and coilovers and adds a camber kit since he doesn't want to ---- up his tires. He gets rims and a system, because he wants to hear some good music while out cruising. He keeps his factory wing because any bigger and it would be stupid. He does some other cosmetic stuff to the inside. He adds some cam gears and a fuel rail and what not. He takes his Civic down to the street racing gathering place and watches the real fast cars race. He challenges a few stock cars and slightly modified cars to race for fun. He doesn't talk all this hype about how fast his car is, because he knows it isnt V8 worthy. He thinks is car is nice and he likes it a lot. John is not rice nor is his car. He still could have added graphics and stickers for parts he has but still wouldn't be a ricer. He takes his Civic home and is impatient about saving money and splurges on brakes and cosmetic stuff (body kit, nice subtle graphics, neons, etc)... all the while not talking ----. THIS IS NOT A RICER NOR IS HIS CAR!!!!
sinistercrx quote "to lazy to sort throgh the post and delete what i dont want"

john is rice. john spent more on headers wing system cold air intake and brakes than a whole turbo system would cost..
MMM cam gears and fuel rail:X because you need a after market fuel rail with a stock engine right

Damned right I'm too lazy. You'd be surprised at how many people don't think that its possible to create your own turbo system, its called ignorance not "rice" ::)

" So he gets some Headers, forge pistons, a stronger gasket, better Intake Manifold, etc. He buys a catback system exhaust to handle the extra flow from the T4 turbo he bought. "
LMFAO.. I didn't see that. Headers and a Turbo.. hmm.. I'll have to revise that ----. The person who wrote it was paying as much attention to it as me :P
