rattling clutch?

i've got a rattling in my clutch when i am standing on the clutch. when i let off the rattling goes away. this isn't on my honda, but on my wife's ford ranger '96 (the beater). anyone know what this might be? the truck has 130k miles on it and haven't ever done any clutch work to it.

It's the clutch throw out bearing.

With 130k on the clock, you probably need a new clutch anyways. Just make sure you replace the throw out bearing.

Well, if that's the problem, then it's possible. It's a bearing that spins around when you disengage the clutch (from the flywheel). If it's indeed going out, it could really screw your pressure plate, and clutch if the metal gets inside there..

There is a way to clutchless shift. It's a circuit racing driving technique that's pretty easy. You just have to know your car. ..and doesn't really work for 1st gear. :) Anyway, I'm done rambling..
