Rant, God Damned AAA

So I sign up for AAA on the internet, big mistake.

Turns out the normal membership only covers like 3 miles now.

So now I am trying to upgrade, but listen to this stupid crap.

1. Can't upgrade on the same day I want to use the service or I get charged $2 per mile anyways.

2. Can't upgrade until I get my membership card because they have no record of me signing up in their systems. (Repeat, do not sign up online)

3. Once I receive the card, which will probably be like Tuesday or Wednesday, then I can upgrade, but then I have to wait a couple days to use it to have my car towed, due to #1 up there

All in all I am guessing another week before I can have my car towed, and after all that, I am tempted to just rent a dolly, tow it myself, and just cancel my AAA membership.

Another week staying at the sisters going absolutely crazy...go figure.

I coulda bought an HMT shirt with that money....pfft.

you could just pay for a tow like normal people do when their car breaks down and they aren't on the triple a ----.

lol. It sounds like you only signed up for this tow? I'm sure most of thier rules are made to not allow that. :-\

I signed up for this tow and to have two other tows per year as well, I am sure I will break again. There rules are the service is available as soon as it processes. My mistake was signing up over the net because here it is three days later and they have no record of it in their systems but somehow im out 64 bucks?

AAA WTF you dont need that, thats what friends are for. Until they pull you out into the middle of the road and the rope breaks and cars are coming out you and you think ur gonna get t-boned on the driver side, just because he wanted to smoke a fatty an hour earlier and didnt judge his acceleration or other cars to well.

37 miles all freeway is a bit much for a rope tow.

88dx: plus membership is good for 3 tows 100 miles.

Well I towed with a rope from Orlando to Titusville(30 miles) and its 55-65mph zones. Its not to bad just stay in the right and have a good driver/tow-er.

I think in Oregon I'd get pulled over on the freeway.

---- it if you get pulled over they will just make you get it towed professional from that spot. So you will be closer and get it done cheaper.

yeah like free from the state police when they impound it because I couldnt afford the tow til a week later when I got paid. all in all, this idea just wont work.

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

Yeah, they won't let you tow anything with a rope on the highway/freeway.

I always just cross my fingers and hope I make it from point A to point B. :-\

Ouch man, I know that towing is expensive. 65 to hook up, 75 if you want a flat bed and then avg. is 3.50 a mile, that crap adds up quickly. I've got a budy w/a big dodge and a flat bed that I've used before but AAA will tow you in the middle of the night, my friends won't.

FooK 10-30-2004 05:51 PM

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

yeah a tow company wanted 60 to hook up and 4 bucks a mile.

37 miles...

comes to about 298 bucks.

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

ok heres some good info on aaa sense i used to work for them
1. they will not tow u car if its modified
(i.e) lowered,rims,exhust..what ever
2. basic membership blows donkey balls you get 5 free miles then its 2-3 dollars a mile
3.plus membership u get 3 calls a year.. if there tows there coverd only upto 100miles and dollies are extra
or flat bed is also extra

so all and all its a good program for cars that are stock

your information is not totally correct, nor is it the same in every state.

In oregon basic membership covers 3 miles or to nearest safe place to park the car, or to AAA shop doing repairs, depending on distance etc.

Plus membership is 3 tows 100 miles each.

Also, I've borrowed AAA plus memberships before and they towed my car 60 miles, with almost a 2" drop. Wont tow modified cars?

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

How much would it be to rent a U-haul car dolley for a few hours and find someone with a hitch to haul it? $10 or $20 for their time and a full tank of gas?

hybrdcivic95 11-01-2004 10:28 AM

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

i payed 50 for my uhaul trailer....what would be funny though is if when you try to get it towed they tell you no, because it was a "pre-existing" condition...

i do this shiz for a living at geico 8)

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

i had a triple a service a few years back unlimited towing unlimited miles it was like 100 bucks a year, everything was fine till i got stranded in downtown dallas in july after waiting for 4 ------- hours i called a diffrent tow company and paid out of pocket, i went ballistic on there asses, i got the next year free, after 3 tows they said that they couldnt tow me for free anymore at that time i gave them a big ---- you and canceled it, luckily its been 3 years and ive only had to get my car towed once!

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

My parents have had AAA for years. They just let me be on there account for free. It is one of the few things they still give me for free. Everyone in the family gets 5 free tows a year, and I think we can go 500 miles. We have the highest membership with AAA.

AAA Owns a full price tow.

hybrdcivic95 11-01-2004 12:31 PM

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

hahaha....at geico if we "cover the tow", no matter how far it is and they tow company is contracted with us the bitches get an avg of $32.50...i had a call from bum ---- alaska the other day, lady was 175mi from anything, they had to go get her 175mi, take her home 175mi, and about 260back from her home to their place...about 560 total miles for $32.50...but hey they signed the contract and we send them a shitload of "intown" business

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

didnt plus membership used to be unlimited tows up to 100 miles?...anyway, ive had numerous modifed cars towed (nearly every one ive had) some even needed boards to get onto the flatbed ;)

rollmodel 11-01-2004 12:40 PM

Re:Rant, God Damned AAA

Triple ass tows modified cars.

i posted earlier about my friends del sol.. triple ass towed it to toledo and back 60 minute there and 60 minute back. his car is lowered, rims, whatever else.. but mainly.. does not appear stock.

triple ass does help out when you need gas.. as long as you dont mind waiting all day ;)

and they do help when you need a tow... if you dont mind waiting a few days ;)

thats what friends with flatbeds are for ;) its nice to know a couple guys that race and can bring over a truck, give them a few beers After, I repeat, After they finish the tow.. :)

didn't have to read the whole thread, ---- triple A, I have them for insurance and it seems like it's more than that nation's debt, and when there was a fender bender, they were quick to label me at fault, bitches. >:(

If someone else (reputable) would sell me insurance, I would drop AAA :-\
