What's the name of this part?:

it's like a little arm or piston that moves in and out with varying voltage, like a motor but instead of rotating around, this moves in and out.

If you're referring to the little pistons like they use in automated car audio setups, those are linear actuators.

racerex is right, its a linear actuator, it varies in length either in or out as the voltage changes. I've used some before for some sick ass motorized amp racks and shizzle.
